Our brood stock spawning this morning, mid 40s up to mid 50s going at it naturally the way they should, we spawn our fish naturally because we believe this produces the best quality fish, in a hatchery they are fed on artimia (brine shrimp) which is good but not as good as the natural feed they get from a natural lake, in a hatchery pretty much all fry that hatch survive, even the weak ones, in the real world any week ones soon fall by the way side leaving the strongest fish to thrive, our method is more risky as they may not spawn at all if the weather is not right, or a sudden cold snap could cause issues but we feel the risks are worth the reward.
See below just a few of the broodstock.
