This World Mental Health Day, we're thinking about the parents behind the allergies and autoimmune disorders...

Because when your child lives with a serious health condition, there's a mental load that nobody else can see. And sometimes, the hardest part isn't the practical side of managing an allergy. It's carrying the worry that comes with knowing someone you love so much, can be vulnerable.

We know that many allergy parents spend a huge amount of energy trying to make the world feel safe for their children, while making sure they can still experience the fun, freedom and normality of childhood.

And we also know, that parents need looking after too.
So today, we're sending a little love to the mums, dads and carers navigating the mental load of food allergies. You don't have to carry it all alone.

We talk a lot about allergen cross-contaminationā€¦ and one of the simplest ways allergens can be transferred is through our hands. šŸ‘

So, what does proper handwashing actually look like when youā€™re preparing food for someone with an allergy or coeliac disease? Clue: Itā€™s not just a quick rinse!

Weā€™ve broken it down into 7 simple steps ā€” from wetting your hands and applying soap, right through to cleaning between your fingers and around your thumbs, before rinsing properly

Because when youā€™re preparing food for someone with an allergy, clean hands are an important part of reducing the risk of cross-contamination.

And sometimes the best way to explain something that canā€™t be seenā€¦ is to show it. šŸ’™
