Our members had a fantastic day yesterday at our summer Waffle 'n walk, kindly hosted by Wressle Vineyard 🍇

A big thank you to Marie, Chris and Liz from Wressle for showing the members around their beautiful tasting room as well as an in depth tour of the vines and day to day runnings at the vineyard. It was a very informative waffle and walk! 🙏

Thanks also must go to chairman Ian Laurel Vines for the update on everything happening in our region and the wider Wine GB news 🥂

The guest speakers for the day were Greg Dunn from Campden BRI, a big thanks to Greg for talking through wine testing and analysis. And Gillian Jordan from Wines of Great Britain for an update on the new knowledge hub and all the fantastic work going on behind the scenes

Next up is our Annual awards at the end of August, more info to come! 🍾

First up, here's what they had to say about our Solaris Orange Wine...

'It's called Orange, it is orange! The joy of this wine lies where the skinsy grip meets the racy natural acidity. Vibrant orange pith, peach skin and persimmon reach perfect harmony in the glass.'

A huge thank you to Tom and Oz for including us. It's an honour to be included and we can't wait to see more of their Wine Heroes journey as they continue to shine a spotlight on English wines ahead of harvest.

A huge congratulations to Tom Webster from vineyard for being one of our first Bursary winners!

Introduced this year, any member of Wine GB Midlands & North can apply for the bursary, next year's applications close on the 30th April 2027

This scheme was established to support our members in expanding their viticultural and oenological knowledge. It also serves as a tribute to the legacy of those members who are no longer with us, celebrating their significant contributions to our region by investing in the future of our industry.

Tom put his bursary towards the Principles of Sparkling Wine course and here's what Tom had to say about it:

"The course was particularly useful because it helped bridge the gap between our existing still wine production and bringing our sparkling wine production in-house.

Combining that knowledge with my existing experience in still winemaking has given me the confidence to disgorge our first homemade sparkling vintage at Scaddows, and it will be very valuable as we continue to develop our sparkling wine production in the future."

We had a fantastic day yesterday at our annual AGM, a big thanks to our hosts for the venue and delicious food!

A huge thanks as always to our chairman Ian , secretary Shelley Gill & treasurer Daryl Gill. Thanks to them and the enthusiam of our members, we have a very exciting year ahead with lots of plans for our region!

We also had an update from on the fantastic progression they are making at hq, thanks for making the journey up to see us Nicola!

They are doing their WSET level 2 at Vineyard, learning lots about different varieties & countries, growing techniques, wine making techniques and of course some tasting 🥂
