News for all our customers at Jays
I'm sure most of you are wondering what is happening at the shop at the moment, so we wanted to be as transparent as possible to let you all know about recent times here at Jays.
We've had an incredible couple of years running Jays from our little trailer to being in our very own shop which has been incredibly busy day in and day out. Over the last two years, prices have continued to rise at an unbelievable rate. We've always had the ethos of giving freshly cooked takeaway food at a fair price and thankfully due to the high amount of orders we got we managed to limit price rises massively in comparison to the rate of increases. In addition to this last year's electricity price spike had absolutely destroyed us, with no cap on commercial electricity prices we saw our utility outgoings increase tenfold. Again we have persisted and persisted to keep the brand and food we love going.This along with the general running costs & maintenance of having a high street store have caused difficult times for us over the last 18 months.
Unfortunately, we are writing this post now as we are well and truly stretched too thin. Jays will be closed permanently for the foreseeable future. The reasons above are core responsibility for us having to do this and there is no longer a plausible nor effective method we can operate efficiently in the current climate. Unfortunately, we can no longer continue. This wasn't a decision that was taken lightly at all, and the reality of having to walk away is an upsetting one.
Most of all, I want to say thank you to all our staff who have always been there for us and gave us their all every single day. We've become the highest-rated restaurant on UberEats, with all our metrics exceeding the local area; 2 x 5 Star Hygiene ratings thanks to their diligence and cleanliness, and as anyone who's been and ordered with us at the store will know, great customer service. If any of our amazing customers are in a position to lend a hand with work in the meantime for any of our staff, we’d all be so appreciative.
