A slightly different Midsomerset Show for us this year.
Sadly, with the current Blue Tongue situation in the South West, we made the difficult decision to pull our cattle out of the show this year. With cases now right on our doorstep, including on some nearby farms, and with us still unable to vaccinate the herd until next week, we just didn’t feel it was worth the risk of travelling our show team.
It felt very strange not arriving bright and early with the cattle in tow and getting the team ready for the ring, but we still enjoyed heading along for the day and watching the classes. The Interbreed Beef Championship had some lovely cattle in attendance and it was great to see the show from the other side of the ring!
Meanwhile, our bull Enkangala Ash seemed perfectly happy with the decision and took the opportunity to put his feet up at home instead of being preened for the show ring! 😂
It was gutting to miss out after the last few months of training the show team and looking forward to the show, but ultimately we didn’t want to take the risk without the vaccine. Hopefully we’ll be back out showing again soon! 🐮
