MAY THE 4th BE WITH YOU! In 2018 we opened on may 4th. A model railway and collectables shop at 10a Silver Street. It was set up to teach my son to be employed and to live independently, when they thought he never would. Chad was sent to work with him after I won the 16th tribunal to prove that this was an educational placement.
Over the next 8 years we morphed into a gift shop, clothes shop, cafe , cocktail bar ... whatever was needed to help our interns. 19 young people have passed though our hands. Chad, Rachel and I have thrown our hearts and souls into helping them, and yet, it has been easy, because we have laughed and loved our way through this crazy risky journey.
The A2W government funding has almost entirely stopped. Somerset Council are uncaring, devious bas***rds, and we have fought for every bit of support. This means that we cannot take on any new vulnerable interns.
We will do our best. Hopefully we have another year before we close, WHO KNOWS?
