Good evening everyone,

Our lunch times during school days are always busy, and you are all well aware of how we treat all the children like our own.

People joke about how we probably catch a lot of shoplifters, especially children, all the time. But we always pride ourselves in saying that it isn’t case, that it doesn’t happen very often.

Today, during lunch time, a group of S1 children pocketed multiple items. It was saddening because they are children who come in all the time, and they are all aware that if they don’t have money, all they have to do is say “Tony, can I pay for this tomorrow, I don’t have enough money”. Multiple students have done that in the past, and it has worked for us based on trust and knowing all the families. However, it has to be said that today’s incident wasn’t from a place of no money, rather, it was done for the “thrill” of it.

The needful has been done, and authorities have been contacted.

As we always say, “Look after us and we look after you”. We are aware and grateful that we’re an integral part of the Invergordon community, and we want to keep things that way. However, that is only possible when there is mutual understanding and respect.

The clocks went forwards over the weekend, so you know what time it is - yup, time to change our Friday break hour!

This doesn't affect our other opening hours, simply put, our one hour break has been moved forward by one hour and that's it!

‼️ Tue 14 March - closed for one hour between 14:00 and 15:00. No hot food after 11:00 ‼️

Good morning everyone,

As you may be aware, our beloved “Tom the Tug” passed away a couple of weeks ago and today (Tue 14 March) is his funeral. On that occasion, we will be closed for one hour between 2pm and 3pm, as a mark of respect.
We wanted to close at the same time as the funeral is to take place, but we are aware that a good number of school children rely on our shop for lunch time snacks.

Here’s a little video of Tom from his 93rd birthday, back in 2020. At this time, we were still neighbours and we were able to arrange a little party for him in the car park behind our houses, along with our fellow neighbours Donnie and Lori, Annie, and Ebbie, as well as a couple of friends of Tom. And of course, Charlie, his walking stick he begrudgingly befriended.

Tom has been one of the warmest people we have come across and he always had a good word to say. He has spread his love and cheer for life to so many people and he will so fondly remembered. He always loved to flaunt his age. “I am 90/91/92/93/94/95” he would say so proudly. He loved life and everyone around him.

🍰🍫 Chocolate sponge layered with a rich chocolatey buttercream icing 🍫🍰

I was asked to make a cake for someone who works in the wildlife industry and after some brainstorming, we came up with the idea of a landscape. I really enjoyed making this one, and I was so pleased with the outcome!

These raffles really are selling like hotcakes!

We just drew another one this evening!

We only had one number left (number 16) when our paper boys Alan and Dorian walked in near closing time - and Dorian bought it. Then we tossed a coin to see who will draw it, between the two boys.

So Dorian went in… and got his number 16!!!

It’s fair to say that Dorian had a lucky day today 😆🎉

I believe we’ll have one more raffle before Christmas, is that right, Babs?

Vanilla sponge layered with lemon buttercream and lemon curd 🍋

The brief for this cake was “anything yellow, navy and gold… as that’s the theme for the baby shower” and at first I didn’t know what to do, so I just started without anything in mind - and I ended up here! I was very pleased with the outcome and luckily so were the people who ordered!! We all loved the simplicity and at the same time, the details of this beauty 😍

I made this cake about a year ago, and I have so many other cakes to post… I’m almost forgetting what the flavours of all the different cakes were 😆

🥕 Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting 🧁 a classic combo of course!

The outside coating is also vanilla cream cheese frosting, just dyed brown… we didn’t really want chocolate there as much as we love chocolate

This was a Father’s Day cake, for a father who’s very much into woodwork! As a thank you gift, I received a cake made out of wood!! It was so beautiful, I don’t have any pictures on my phone right now though…

🖤 A few days ago, a dear customer of mine passed away 🖤

When I first started working in the newsagents, back in 2015, there were only a handful of people who supported me from the very beginning. He was one of them. He had the most pleasant of smiles and he always walked in with warm greetings. His wife is the same. She went through so much in his last few months. She stuck with him and did whatever she could. They used to come to the shop together and lighten up the whole place. Now it’s just her, as we mourn the passing of her husband.

I will remember him, always, for the support he gave me and for who he was. A gentleman.
