Despite the big drop in temperature overnight, a couple of the boys still felt the need to go for a morning dip in the Loch today! By the looks of things, Chaos and Mercury didn’t just get their toes wet either. Brrrrr! 🥶 Rather them than me!!

I certainly didn’t expect to be taking out November treks in a T Shirt!! 🌞 The rest of the week looks set to remain mild and dry too so come and join us on Friday morning or Saturday afternoon and enjoy some Autumnal cuddles with these little fluffers!!

Did you know that you can take away a little piece of your favourite Loch Ness alpaca? Marta from has lovingly hand crafted bracelets from the fleece of each alpaca. Each bracelet is adjustable and has a silver tag with the name of the alpaca and our logo engraved on it. It is embellished with a silver heart bead or 4cm tube. If you prefer a pop of colour on your wrist, we have made some using fleece which has been dyed. Bracelets cost £22 each, and can be purchased at one of our experiences, at , or pm me to order one from me.

Our festive ‘Hot Chocolate with the alpacas’ experience has been opened on the website starting on 23rd November! Join us for a meet & greet session where the alpacas will be wearing their festive finery, and you will be served a mug of hot chocolate if you wish. Due to various other commitments, sessions are limited, and have always filled up fast, so please head to the website and get booked up to avoid disappointment. We also have some 'Jingle Treks' on Nov 23, Dec 8 and Dec 14, which are the same as normal treks, but the alpacas will remain in their festive outfits!

The boys are taking a few days off while we are on our holidays in Lisbon, but we’re back to work on Saturday, and have availability during the October holidays for treks and meet & greets. Get booked in for some family fun. Also, if you got vouchers last Christmas and haven’t yet used them, please get booked in to use them soon, as there will be less treks scheduled for the rest of the year after the holidays. Look forward to seeing you soon!

A rather impressive wardrobe malfunction for Cosmic this morning! The ears were in the holes and the muzzle was visible when I left him 🙄 at least it still keeps the midges away!!

Poor Cloud isn’t having a good week 😢 He is sometimes bothered by midges, so has been wearing a midge mask for most of the last couple of months, but still likes to rub his head against things to help the itch. Yesterday I noticed a cloudy spot in his eye. A quick email to my brilliant vet confirmed it’s a corneal ulcer which needed urgent treatment and pain relief. A 2 1/2 hr round trip to the vet later (had to happen on a weekend when my local branch is closed 🙄) and we were stocked up with eye drops, pain killer injections, and some wormer as his worm burden was a little higher than we’d like when he was tested on Thursday. What fun trying to get eye drops in to a wriggly young alpaca! But it’s done, and I can already see a difference in how much the eye is opened. Fingers crossed he continues to improve over the next few days 🤞

It looks like Aero slept in the sticky wi***es last night!! 45 minutes later, having sprayed with hair detangler and picked them out with a comb, he’s looking much better, but not very happy with me!! No doubt he’ll come in tomorrow having undone all my hard work!!

Can you tell who’s had a falling out??! 😂 When alpacas spit at each other, the stomach acid numbs their lower lip, and it drops down to get more air which will rid them of the horrible taste. This takes about 20-30 minutes (sometimes more with Chaos!) and during this time, they are unable to eat. Serves them right 😂😂

We’re not the only ones who use the Alpaca Track. I’d seen lots of snout holes and latrines beside the track recently, so decided to set up a camera to find out who was responsible! 🦡🦡

Another successful shearing day over. 12 very happy, much cooler boys now grazing in the field and loving the feel of a cool breeze on their skin! Thank you once again to ShearAlpacas for a super quick and efficient shear, leaving all of our boys unstressed and looking great. Keep an eye on our stories for before and after pics coming soon!

Looking for something to do with the kids on inservice Monday? Or just visiting the area and want a unique way to see the shores of Loch Ness? We have availability on Monday and Tuesday mornings. It’s the last chance to meet these fluffy guys before their fleece is all sheared off on Saturday 😢

You know they’re going to get on just fine when it’s feedtime and they all just settle down to munch in silence with no drama. New little ones are confident enough to find a bowl, and the big ones are kind enough to let them have it 🥰
