Next open for Scotland’s Gardens Scheme with the Snowdrop Festival February & March 2027. A 17th Century Croft House that has been extended over the centuries and is now surrounded by a Cottage Garden, Kitchen Garden, Orchard and Wildlife Meadow & Pond. The garden is open for Scotland's Gardens Scheme, 60% of all money raised going to Befriend A Child, 40% to SGS Beneficiaries.

I love plants with quirky names… names that trip off the tongue💖

This is probably my favourite!

And not just for the name it is a cracking plant for late summer/autumn colour.

It gets cut back after flowering to just 60cm, and in one season grows enough to cover the side and roof of the old goat shed.

Who is of an age to remember this signature tune?

Whenever I pass these Lilium Black Beauty (which is quite often as they are by the path to our front door) I am tempted into humming the tune… some times more tunefully than others 🤣

Anemone hupehensis var. japonica ‘Pamina’ 💖

At only 2ft tall this pretty double variety of anemone much better behaved than its taller cousin September Charm which rampages through the border and pushes out the other herbaceous plants.

After several years it still only fills a 2ft x 2ft space by the front door and hasn’t invaded further along… and gives this lovely pop of colour when the roses have stopped blooming.

Another good day for the Butterfly Alley today, and the Painted Ladies have joined the party 🧡🖤💜🤎🤍❤️

Only 6 plants of the pale peach variety were planted, the rest… so all the yellows and oranges, doubles and singles, came by being self sown from plants last year!
