The plan was to cut the grass at the back while Julian planted seedlings out the front , then house chores got In the way , hoovering , dusting , tidying and laundry . Later the Mower came out and the rain comes on - aaaagggh! And rained ever since , I should have just cut the bloody grass first! Lol
Dinner was going to be chicken on a creamy mash with a green veg then I opted for roast chicken thighs on a bed of cheesey creamy gnocchi with broccoli but someone offered me help while I made the gins - the broccoli! When serving up , the broccoli was still in the bag so garlic flat bread replaced the veg … thanks Jules ..
Wine was a rosé wine called Barcelona from Tesco £8 with a little fizz in it .. nice but I wouldn’t rush back to it ..

My 3 Easy homemade dips to go alongside your poppadoms and mango chutney on a curry evening
Each relish or sauce is to my liking. But taste while preparing as I know a lot of people don’t like coriander so leave it out or add a little more sugar for sweetness.

1. Onion relish
1 red onion finely chopped , 1 tablespoon of mint sauce or jelly, 2 squirts of tomato sauce , 1 teaspoon of chopped fresh coriander ( optional ) then mix all together if too sweet add a small pinch of salt or chilli powder.

2. Mango/Yoghurt sauce
6 tablespoons of yoghurt - natural or Greek, 2 tablespoons of mango chutney and a again 1 teaspoon of chopped fresh coriander ( optional) mix together.

3.Coriander / yoghurt sauce ( not shown)
6 tablespoons of yoghurt, 2-3 teaspoons of chopped fresh coriander and a good pinch of sugar , mix together or blitz with hand blender.

Serve with poppadoms as a starter or alongside your curry on the side .
Enjoy .

Julian was chatting to a elderly neighbour 3 doors down at the fish van and she told him she is finding the grass in her garden it’s getting a wee bit overgrown , so I offered to help - oh my god ! I should have changed my name to George , George of the Jungle . But I persevered and helped as much as I could , so she could go from her house to her cabin at the bottom of her garden - where I found steps and unearthed a bird bath hidden in the long grass too!!
It stills need a shorter cut but her friends were visiting for coffee and I was asked kindly to go with a bottle of wine in hand as I left … thank you x!
Tonight we had pot roast brisket - Brisket from Rannachy farm shop with herby dumplings , colcannon mash , cauliflower, asparagus using up what was in the drawer at the bottom of the fridge .
All was delicious as usual .

Today the weather has been like March , cold and wet so I wanted to use the Aberdeen Angus steak mince which I bought from Rannachy farm shop alongside some pork mince like a bolognese mix so I made a Greek lasagne..called Pastitsio with a béchamel sauce .. cinnamon and Parmesan top.
I couldn’t get bucatini which is a hollow thicker spaghetti so opted for macaroni instead which didn’t work as well as planned but it all tasted great and that’s what matters the most not the food styling, it’s about the flavour and the taste of the dish ! …
Served with garlic bread and a small salad on the side ..with a few glasses of Mucha Mas red wine too🍷🍷🤪
