And with that, the 2025 Burrough Bakes season comes to an end ✨

Following on from my previous post and a lot of reflection, I'm taking this opportunity to say Thank You and See You Soon! 🙋🏻‍♀️ My diary is closed for November and December, as I haven't yet been able to confirm my availability outside of my part-time job at the hospital and childcare arrangements over the festive period 🎄 I would never commit to an order if I wasn't sure that I had the time to spend on making it the best cake for your special occasion 🎂

I've also decided, that as for 2026, I will not be taking anymore orders right now. ✨ Any orders that have already been placed WILL be honoured ✨ My recent bakes have made me feel that I need to practice more than I thought in some areas, as I haven't been happy with some the results and I won't risk disappointing customers with bakes they've ordered and paid for ❤️‍🩹 I haven't had any complaints - everyone who has had orders from me have sent me so many compliments, which I'm so so grateful for 😁 it's just a personal preference for me. I want to get better and perfect my craft, so I'm taking some time away to practice without so much pressure to deliver. Then when I'm confident, I'll be back with a bang!

Until then, thank you to all of my customers for their orders, for all of the support and wonderful comments on my bakes. I thoroughly enjoyed making every single one and hope it's not too long before I'm back at it! 🥰

Well 😅 I'm swallowing my pride for something much more important; Honesty.

I haven't posted about the cake pops from my most recent competition because these are the only surviving cake pops from 20 that I made for my winner, (the others didn't even stay together or slumped before I could get them coated 😬) and let's face it, they aren't great are they? Once I realised they weren't coming together how they should be, I contacted Amy to explain the situation as I felt I simply couldn't deliver these.

I've watched several tutorials on how to make them, researched the recommended ingredients and coatings to use and felt confident in the skills I'd learnt and the tips I'd picked up along the way, but putting those into practice is a whole different ball game. Amy will get her prize, but only when they are of a standard that I'm happy with and right now that's not it! So more practice, more trials and methods to test. I'm very lucky that she is incredibly kind and understanding, it helps when we have these moments of remembering we're only human and not machines 😅

I stay in contact with all of my customers throughout the process of baking and decorating their orders and prize wins. It's important to me that communication is one of the top priorities as it's a basic level of customer service that can add a lot of value to the customer's experience.

So back to researching and practicing I go! 🍭

A sweet set of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes for lovely Nancy's 80th birthday! 🦋 She loves flowers and sewing 🧵🪡 So her cakes were adorned with fondant flowers and buttons, as well as some rice paper butterflies and a few sprinkles ✨ why not eh! 🌸 All of the flowers were rolled, hand stamped, and coloured with edible ink pens and royal icing. The buttons were made from using a simple round piping tip, using the large end for the buttons themselves and the small end to create the button holes. 🔘 Happy 80th Birthday Nancy! And thank you Sandra for requesting them 🩷
