Thanks to the heat wave, this is the first year our Bwlford fig tree has produced fruit that have grown and ripened fully! They are delicious!!!

We have 2 new additions at Bwlford this weekend and they have already settled in nicely! 2 little Gloucestershire Old Spot boys! But we need names! Funny/puns/clever…comment below and the best 2 will be announced mid week!

Not as much as we hoped for but it’s a great feeling to have good quality, clean hay in the barn for the winter. Also bird of the week was the Red Kite, frequently seen but seldom heard. On this particular day it just kept on screeching!

Marsh orchids are now going to seed, hoping for more next year as they can produce thousands of seeds, unfortunately they don’t have endosperm so need mycorrhizal fungi to be present for nutrients. We don’t have a problem providing damp soil though 😂

Bwlford bird of the week is the Sedge Warbler, they are so loud! They are nesting between pegs 3 & 4 on our fishing lake so we’d advise our fishermen to please avoid these two pegs for the next couple of weeks, thank you
