Vacqueyras Natural Wine

Meet Ingrid, our incredible new winemaker at the estate. If you want to understand what goes into crafting authentic, low-intervention wine that respects both the land and your body, her philosophy changes everything.

Ingrid created her estate in 2019 on the world-class terroir of Vacqueyras, with small, pristine plots in the Ventoux and Vaison-la-Romaine. Her mission wasn't just to make wine; it was a deep-rooted return to the land. As she says, "Nourishing the land is, in a way, nourishing the life within us."

With nearly 9 years of working the land and 6 years dedicated to these specific, precious soils, here is what makes her natural winemaking process so unique:

• 1. Pure expressions of Vacqueyras & Ventoux Terroir: By sourcing from these distinct micro-plots, she captures the rich, sun-drenched valley power of Vacqueyras combined with the crisp, vibrant minerality of the Ventoux slopes. The Benefit: You get beautifully balanced wines that offer incredible depth and complexity without feeling heavy or over-extracted.

• 2. A Living, Zero-Additive Philosophy: For close to a decade, Ingrid has mastered the art of organic farming and natural vinification. The Benefit: Because the soil is deeply nourished and alive, the grapes require zero chemicals, zero laboratory yeasts, and zero nasty additives in the cellar. It's clean, living juice that lets you enjoy a beautiful evening and wake up feeling entirely fresh the next day.

When you buy a standard £19 bottle of wine from a traditional retailer, you aren't actually paying for the quality of the liquid in the glass.

You are paying for a massive, clunky chain of corporate middlemen.

Importers, distributors, regional warehouses, and retail markups all take a cut.
By the time everyone gets paid, only about £4.00 actually reaches the independent grower who nursed the vines and made the wine.

We think that math is completely broken. 📉

Swipe through to see how Vivan operates as a direct-cellar cooperative—deleting the corporate layers so that more money goes straight to the winemaker, while keeping retail prices fair for you.

The truth about your £10 supermarket bottle... 😳

Most mass-produced wine is packed with synthetic pesticides, added sugars, and heavy cellar additives just to make it taste standard.

At Vivan, we do things differently. Our winemakers hand-craft pure, unfiltered natural wine for under £20 a bottle, shipping direct from the cellar so the value stays in the soil.

Les Cortis Bugey Wine Selection Review: Is it actually possible to find natural wine that is incredibly easy to drink, but still complex and interesting? 🍇👇

According to this verified email review that just landed from Adam Bastock, the answer is a resounding yes.

Adam grabbed our 6 Bottles Case | Les Cortis | Bugey 🇫🇷 and here is exactly what he had to say about it:

"Fantastic bunch of wines! Nice to have something both easy drinking but also interesting and a bit alternative to the usual stuff."

Why the Les Cortis 6-Bottle Case is Trending:

The "Anti-Boring" Profile: If you’re tired of the same mass-produced supermarket bottles, these are the ultimate alternative.

The Perfect Balance: It’s rare to find natural wines that hit that sweet spot—faultless, super smashable ("easy drinking"), yet deeply intriguing and characterful.

Direct from Bugey: Sourced from small-scale, independent craft winemakers who put actual soul into the bottle (and yes, they even hand-write notes to our customers, like Jérémy’s note in the photo!).

If you are ready to skip the commercial stuff and discover what real, independent French wine tastes like, this curated 6-bottle case is the ultimate gateway.

How to graft vines.

I’m preparing dormant buds harvested last winter to graft them onto our existing rootstocks.

The secret here? Extreme precision. The cut has to be perfectly flat so the cambium of the graft matches the rootstock exactly.

Why do this instead of planting new vines?
1️⃣ Resurrection: It gives a second life to old, struggling vines with strong roots.
2️⃣ The Ultimate Plot Twist: It lets me change varieties instantly—like turning a red grape vine into a white one!

Famille Scarlata natural wine review highlights the incredible artisanal craftsmanship coming out of Souvignargues, a small commune in the Gard department of Languedoc-Roussillon, France

🌿 The Winery: Vin de Famille Scarlata
Launched as a passionate family adventure in 2012, Vin de Famille Scarlata is a micro-domain nestled beautifully at the foot of the Cévennes mountains. Operating on just a few hectares of low-yielding, clay-limestone and sandstone (grès argilo-calcaire) hillsides, the estate benefits from a singular terroir marked by late grape maturation and refreshing, cool winds

The family approaches winemaking with absolute reverence for the ecosystem. Their vines are surrounded by wild oak forests, grown completely without synthetic chemicals or weedkillers, and tended to in harmony with planetary and lunar cycles. In the cellar, their low-intervention philosophy shines: everything is hand-harvested, fermented exclusively with indigenous yeasts, and bottled without any chemical inputs or additives. The goal is pure, living wine with maximum "buvabilité" (drinkability).

🍷 The Wine: "Petite matinée tranquille"
Featured in this video is their highly sought-after cuvée, "Petite matinée tranquille" (classified as a Vin de France). This bottle is a 100% natural Grenache red wine that showcases a brilliant, dual-method vinification process.
To create it, the Scarlata family harvests a single plot of Grenache but splits the yield into two completely different environments:

50% Carbonic Maceration: Kept in whole bunches to capture a highly aromatic, vibrant, and "crunchy" fresh-grape fruitines

50% Traditional Maceration: Destemmed to extract structure, velvety tannins, and structural depth

✨ Tasting Notes & Food Pairing
When blended back together, the result is an incredibly ample, smooth, and juicy red wine. It pours a vivid ruby color, bursting with bright aromas of fresh red cherries, wild berries, and a hint of subtle earthiness. It is the ultimate expression of a premium French "glou-glou" (easy-drinking) wine—light and refreshing enough to serve with a slight chill, yet rich enough to have real ch

Want to see what an authentic natural wine starter case looks like when it's curated directly by the winemaker?

I’m Raphaël from Karma Village in the Cèze Valley (Rhône). We handcraft all of our cuvées naturally with zero additives, letting our north-facing sandy soils lock in a vibrant, living freshness.

Here is the exact 5-bottle breakdown inside our starter box, along with the benefits of how they taste:

• 1. Super Karma (White): A light 11% alcohol blanc de noir from Ugni Blanc and Caladoc grapes. Serve it well-chilled for crisp, floral notes that keep your palate completely refreshed.

• 2. Karma Rosé 2023: A direct press of Grenache Noir and Grenache Gris. It perfectly bridges the gap by giving you the savory, earthy depth of an orange wine with the bright snap of a summer rosé.

• 3. Karma Gold 2023 (Orange): A concentrated orange wine with notes of spice and orange blossom. This is built for gastronomy, pairing flawlessly with spicy dishes and grilled foods.

• 4. Karma Rouge (Red): A low-alcohol (12%) Grenache with beautiful, bright acidity. It is packed with complex, fresh aromas of red fruits, damp undergrowth, and leather
• 5. Karma Noir (Rhône Red): A bold, full-bodied blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Carignan aged 10 months in barrels. Expect deep, enveloping notes of blackcurrant and pepper with a clean, vibrant finish.
