Border Berries

🌧️ After some very welcome rain, we are into our final couple of weeks of berries.
🍰If you are after some tea and cake to reward your berry picking, the café will be closing this Sun 2nd Aug.

🔴 Redcurrants are still dazzling, not just for jelly but great scattered and salads and alongside meringues and cream.
🟣 Raspberries and tayberries are also continuing to plump up and ripen after the rain. Both make delicious jam, freeze well and are excellent in fruit crumbles and puddings.
👋 All other berries are pretty much finished now. A huge thank you to all those that came and enjoyed the lovely weather and cracking berries with us this year.

2026 Open!

🌧️After some very welcome rain, we are into our final two weeks of berries. This is your last chance for tea and cake to reward your hard work as the  café closes this weekend (Sun 2 Aug)

🔴 redcurrants are looking dazzling, not just for jelly but lovely scattered on salads or with meringues and cream 
🟣 raspberries and tayberries are also still available for picking, both make excellent jam and go well in any fruit crumble being easy to freeze
👋 all other fruit is pretty much finished - a bumper crop while it lasted 

The berry field will remain open for picking only (not cafe) for at least another 10 days. Raspberries and tayberries will keep on ripening especially after the welcome rain.

🍰Still lots of raspberries to pick but harder to find. For the first time in years, we’re able to take orders if you want more than 2 kg. See website for how to order.
🔴 Redcurrants are in full, jewel-like glory. Give them a whirl! Amazing in salads instead of pomegranate seeds (less airmiles too), lovely in a mixed berry compote. Very easy picking.
🫐 Blackcurrants and gooseberries are nearly finished.
🟣Tayberries continue ripening but also being well picked - great for jams, in baking and compotes this blackberry/raspberry hybrid has amazing flavour when cooked. I use them in the cafe brownies.
🍓 Strawberries are done. Four good weeks of weather has made it a bumper year.

🍓 Strawberries continue to be heavily pickled in the lovely weather so are hard to find. Our later variety are just ripening.

Phew! ☀️ In this scorchio sunshine, we’re going to open at 9am for Thursday 9th, Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July for a cool pick 😎

It’s our opening weekend and there are tonnes of big fat strawberries ready to be picked 🥳
A few early raspberries and gooseberries too 🍈
