This kale has been growing away quietly while we've been busy elsewhere.

It's one of those crops that asks for very little but gives an awful lot in return. It turns up in soups, salads, sides and occasionally finds its way into things we hadn't originally planned.

The challenge at this time of year isn't growing things. It's keeping up with them!

Wedding days are always a team effort 💪

There are tables to move, vegetables to prep, glasses to polish and usually at least one last-minute problem to solve.

By the end of the day everyone is tired, but seeing guests enjoying themselves makes it worthwhile.

Thank you, as always, to the WFK team for making it all happen.

Well done to daughter Lottie who - with friends Antonia, Campbell and Olly - the Tough Mudder in Edinburgh yesterday raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust following their close friend Sam’s diagnosis last year.

+15km of running with grueling obstacles filled with mud, water and electricity tested them to say the least!

Congratulations and well done guys, we know what you've done will help support others through treatment like it did for Sam last year.

We were very excited to be asked by Claire and Amir to create a feast featuring some classic Persian dishes from Amir’s homeland, to share with family and friends on their wedding day. Many aubergines had to be sacrificed! After a very Scottish start to proceedings - grrr Scottish weather, everything was just delightful. As you can see, the couple had made the teepee look beautifully, ‘vintagely’ exotic with vintage tea sets, fabulously flouncy peonies, Persian rugs and beautiful fruit bowls. We served Kashke Bademjan - a tasty aubergine dip with garlic and lots of dried mint with Barbari bread made by Emma and Ghormeh Sabzi - a tasty Iranian stew which is slightly green with loads of herbs and spinach. And one or two other things….And of course we took a barbecue so Robert could roast some delicious slow cooked lamb. Thank you Claire and Amir for trusting us with this one - it was fun to try and bring a little bit of Iran to the Scottish Borders for you. Wishing you both a very, very happy life together. And thank you WFK team - great work with the teapots! And thank you Cathy for coming to be official food photographer! Note - last shot of Baklava not my work, please don’t ask me to make it, but isn’t it beautiful?

A lot of what we do begins here.

The setting, the pace, and the space to bring people together - whether for a smaller gathering or something on a larger scale.
