From our 14 acres in the shadow of Kenilworth Castle ruins we aim to produce fine quality lamb and sell direct and fresh. We have some pedigree males and females to produce flock replacements and also use the rams with other breeds of ewe to produce cross bred lambs which will finish on the grass in the meadows. The Hampshire breed finishes well on a natural grass diet so they won't need large amo
unts of cereal concentrates. This produces a fine quality meat, naturally reared. We are not organic but use minimal fertilisers. We aim to improve the soil to balance all the nutrients and grow grass naturally. The sheep drink from natural springs which emerge in the paddocks and we have watercress and naturally occurring mint growing too. We are planning to sow some species of herbs and forage plants into the grass which will improve the diet for the sheep. When the lambs are finished at about 4-6 months of age, we will personally take them a short distance to a local, approved abattoir. They will be professionally butchered, labelled and boxed for us to collect and deliver same day to customers. There is no better way to ensure complete traceability and ensure they are our lambs we deliver to you.
