Pie night is back tomorrow! 🥧🍷

We forgot to take any photos last week so here’s a few pie flavoured memes.

This week’s menu:
🥧 Grass-fed beef, ale and horseradish
🥧 Yorkshire chicken, ham and leek
🥧 Roasted squash & blue cheese
🥧 Samosa pie (vegan)

All served with smashed potatoes, mushy peas, gravy and (optional) lashings of w**e on the side🍷

Wednesday, 5 pm to 8 pm. No bookings, just walk ins. See you there!

A reminder that our Pie & W**e nights start tomorrow 🥧🍷

Every Wednesday, 5 pm - 8 pm. Handmade pies and natural w**es.

We’ve got three pies on the menu this week, all served with thick-cut chips, braised peas, and of course, gravy!

🥧 curried mutton
🥧 Chicken, leek and bacon
🥧 Yorkshire samosa (vegan)

And we’ll be pouring w**es from Element W**es, hand picked by our w**e expert .

And as always, b**r on tap next door from Piglove by the River

No book ins, just swing by.

Here’s a couple of cafe specials for you going into the weekend 🍳🍄‍🟫

🍳Curried dahl with fried eggs, chilli oil and toasted sourdough

The dahl is made with Hodmedod's UK Pulses & Grains green olive lentils, the chilli oil is from WHITE MAUSU and the sourdough is from Bakeri Baltzersen

🍄‍🟫Sticky soy wild mushrooms with whipped tofu, cashew cream, furikake and spring onion on toasted sourdough.

The mushrooms come from Yorkshire Mushroom Emporium, the tofu from Paul’s Organics, the spring onions were grown at Denton Reserve and the furikake is from Emma Basic

All available from the shop so you could make them at home, but then you’d have to wash up, and it’s the weekend innit.

Last week I spent a day with Getting Clean to celebrate a new chapter for the charity and hear about their plan to make sure every person in recovery in the UK has access to peer support and employment opportunities.

Sounds like a big ask, but this is one of the hardest-working teams I’ve met, and I reckon they can do it. They’ll just need a little help, and all YOU need to do is wash your hands!

As the nights draw in, is there anything better than pie and chips with a nice glass of juicy vino? 🍷

Kicking off next week, we’ll be hosting Pie & W**e Nights every Wednesday, 5-8pm.

Wednesday 7th October

🥧 Swillington organic grass-fed curried mutton pie

🥧 Braised herb-fed chicken, smoked bacon & leek pie

🥧 Yorkshire samosa pie (vegan)

All served with thick-cut chips, braised peas and gravy.

We’ll be pouring w**es on the night from Element W**es. Responsibly made, low intervention w**es hand picked by our resident w**e geek

Have you tried this porchetta sandwich yet?

Butterflied pork belly packed with fennel seed, oregano, black pepper, lemon zest and plenty of garlic.

The skin gets scored and salted, then the belly is rolled up tight and left in the fridge overnight to dry the skin and let the flavours sink in…

The next morning it goes in low and slow 🔥

Served warm on a crusty ciabatta from Bakeri Baltzersen with a spicy celeriac remoulade, local mustard leaf from Denton Reserve and a tangy Guindilla salsa verde.

It’s a serious sandwich 🥪

Our range of local goodies is at its peak this time of year. The Denton Reserve walled garden has an abundance of crops. Heritage tomatoes, cucumbers, peppery mixed salad and baby fennel all available from our fridge.

Yorkshire Mushroom Emporium’s farm is also in full flush, with beautiful punnets of mixed pearl and king oyster mushrooms in store. They’re just over a mile up the road, so you know these are as fresh as it gets.

We’ve also just added organic grass-fed mutton from Swillington Organic Farm to the range. Hebridean mutton from sheep raised on the organic parkland of Swillington Farm, just 6 miles away. It’s not often we can get hold of this, so it’s a real treat!

You won’t find this in the supermarket so think big, shop small and support your locals 📍
