Bentinck Farm

Bentinck Farm Family run fruit and nut farm, retailing to consumers via our popular Rent a Tree scheme

We are a small independent family run fruit and nut farm; producing succulent cherries, green and brown Kent cobnuts and a wide variety of apples all spread over 50 acres based in West Kent, near Tunbridge Wells (just off the A21). We have traditionally supplied the wholesale market exclusively; however, we realise that our produce is best experienced when eaten as soon after picking as possible.

For this reason we are offering 'Fresh fruit online,' whereby you can order your fruit online and arrange a time to come and collect as soon as it has been picked. We also have just launched our 'Rent-a-Tree' programme, whereby you can rent a tree for a season, see it in blossom and pick the harvest. For more details please see our shop page at http://shop.bentinckfarm.co.uk/. We also have some vintage apple crates/bushel boxes which are surplus to modern apple farming requirements, but which have a wide variety of uses outside of the agricultural setting, and are available for purchase. Please see our website www.bentinckfarm.co.uk for more details or call 07767 684 780.

So the evolution of fruiting cherry blossom starts with bright white flowers, which start to go brown at the edges when pollination has been successful and the the petals drop leaving a cocooned green pea which eventually emerges and from there it grows to become a bright then dark red cherry! - simples!

A little rain has helped to stimulate the nectar production, so despite the wind the bees are hard at it. This is combined with a very large quantum of blossom, so fingers crossed for a good cherry crop this year
