🚐💚 A little day in the life of Community Meal Care! 💙

Come along with me for a few clips of my day delivering meals! 🥰

There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes, from getting the meals ready to getting them out to our lovely customers. It’s not just about delivering food, it’s about making sure people have a proper meal, a friendly face at the door, and that little bit of reassurance that someone is looking out for them. ❤️

We’ve been doing this since 2011, and although some days are absolutely manic (😂), knowing we’re making a difference to people in our community makes it all worthwhile.

We’re a small, family-run business with a big heart, and we’re so proud of what we do. 🥹💚

❤️ This is why we do it…

This morning, we received a lovely message from the family of a new customer.

“Morning Sarah
Thank you so much for taking that meal to my mom, she was so grateful and said it was delicious. I felt like crying as we have been so worried about her eating properly.”

And honestly, that’s what Meals on Wheels is about. ❤️

It’s not just about delivering a meal. It’s knowing that someone has had something nutritious and delicious to eat, that someone has checked in on them, and that their family has a little more peace of mind.

We’re a small, family-run business, and every single customer matters to us.

🎉 250,000 MEALS DELIVERED! 🎉

Well… this feels like a rather big one. 💚

Since we first started Community Meal Care in 2011, we’ve now delivered 250,000 meals to people in our local community.

That’s 250,000 lunches made, packed, delivered and enjoyed.

250,000 chances to make someone’s day a little easier.

250,000 doorstep visits, welfare checks and friendly hellos.

And an awful lot of Yorkshire puddings, gravy and good old-fashioned dinners along the way! 😂

What started as a small family-run service has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of, but the reason we do it hasn’t changed.

We believe older and vulnerable people should be able to enjoy a proper, tasty meal in their own home, while also having the reassurance of someone checking in on them each day.

And behind every one of those 250,000 meals is a person, a family and a story.

So, thank you to every customer who has welcomed us through their door, every family member who has trusted us with their loved one, and every member of our team who has helped get those meals where they need to be.

Here’s to the next 250,000. 🥂💚

🍂 We always start to get a little busier this time of year as people prepare themselves for the months ahead… and this year is no different! We’ve already had plenty of enquiries coming in. ❤️

🍂 Those who have enjoyed our hearty salads over the summer are now starting to swap them for proper cooked dinners, and we’re looking at lots of new tasty options to keep everyone well fed, cosy and happy in their own homes throughout the colder months.

🍂 So expect plenty of hearty stews, giant Yorkshire puddings, rich gravy, proper puddings and, of course, the friendly service you know and love from us!

Bring on autumn… we’re ready! 🍂

Sometimes, a meal delivery is about much more than the meal…

Today, Amanda, one of our drivers, arrived at a customer’s home and immediately noticed a strong smell of gas.

The hob k***s had been knocked slightly, enough for gas to escape. It didn’t appear to have been done intentionally, and the customer herself hadn’t noticed the smell, despite it being quite strong.

Thankfully, Amanda did.

She immediately turned everything off, contacted me, and we made sure the customer’s family were alerted.

It’s moments like this that remind us why our service isn’t simply about dropping a meal at the door.

Our drivers see our customers regularly, they get to know them, and they notice when something doesn’t seem quite right. Those little welfare checks can sometimes make a very big difference. ❤️

We’re now looking at practical ways to prevent it happening again, including disconnecting the hob or removing the hob k***s so they can’t be accidentally knocked on.

A hot meal, a familiar face and someone keeping an eye out. That’s what we mean when we say our service is about more than food. 💚
