Penny’s Homemade is now closed.

Thank you to those who bought the last of my stock at the Willow Workshop Christmas Shop, and to those who supported my hobby business over the last 10 years. It’s been fun !

It just remains to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a thoughtful, peaceful 2026 and beyond.

Christmas Preserves. Last chance to buy (probably!)

I won’t be selling at the KC Christmas Fair this year, but, so you don’t miss out, my remaining stock will be available at the Willow Workshop (next to the One Stop) over the weekend of the fair (12-15th December).

Sue and Kirk kindly open their Christmas Shop to local crafters in in the run up to Christmas, so
do come along and find some treats 😊

Hello All.

Due to a decrease in sales and an increase in thefts along with such hot weather, Penny’s Homemade is paused for the time being.
I’m very grateful for all your support over the last 10 years, and hopefully, Penny’s Homemade will return at some time in the future.
No more jars, please, but please keep saving your used ink cartridges for KC Heritage. The collection box is on my stall which is behind the wall.

Missing Jams

Today, nearly £17 worth of jams went missing from Penny’s Homemade jam stand on Park Street. Please would the person/people who took them either put cash in the tin (stand just behind wall if not out) or come to no 2 and I will attempt to take payment on card. Thank you.

Happy Local Christmas Shopping

In addition to my Jam Stand, I’m excited that my preserves will also be for sale at The Old Brewery Studios on West Street (next to the shop).
Top up on my homemade jams and pickles along with other artisan products. Then treat yourself to a beautiful willow basket to carry them home.

Christmas Fair.

Usually, at this time of year, I’m cooking like mad and looking forward to seeing lots of customers at the KC Christmas Fair. Due to different rules at the new venue, I won’t be selling at the fair this year, so please read the attached poster and let me know if you would like to buy direct from me.
The good news is that I will be able to take my time as a customer at this year’s fair. I hope it goes well and is as as successful as in previous years 😊

Mmmmm…. Red Onion Chutney.

Goodness, it’s a pain to prepare and cook! But this is possibly my favourite chutney. Whether it’s with cheese (with or without the biscuit 🫢), pork pie, added to casseroles or dolloped on pizza (before cooking), it’s so useful to have around.

Marmalade Fest!!

My favourites - tangy Grapefruit and Three Fruit.

Price Rise

Happy New Year, everyone. And sorry to begin 2024 with price rises. However, as you know, the price of ingredients have been on the rise. The cost of sugar has doubled and many others have risen by at least one third.

From January, prices will be:
Most jams, pickles and marmalades - £3.20
Piccalilli - £3.50
Speciality/higher cost preserves will be slightly more.

I will also be reducing my range, as some are too expensive to make without putting prices up even further (if anyone has any unwanted strawberries lurking in their freezer, please let me know! 😄). Hopefully this will change as the cost of seasonal crops come down.

Finally, the cost of chicken feed has also risen, so my eggs have gone up to £1.50 per half dozen 🐓.

I hope you are able to continue to buy my preserves. As long as you buy, I will keep making.
