Today we purchased a handsome new Poll Dorset ram for some of the ladies here at north Ash . Watch this space though as tomorrow we are collecting a new breeding group of a different kind 😳

A rather unexpected arrival here the other day at North Ash from our young Dartmoor ! . Tut tut young lady . The smallest lamb I think I’ve seen but boy she runs round like a racehorse .

I promised myself I’d keep my distance from the bottle fed triplets . As you can see it’s going really well !! 🤔 🕶 🐑

Remember the little lamb ? Well here he is doing big boy stuff and chilling with his mum . You’ll be pleased to see he’s thriving . We refer to him as Ted as he still looks like a teddy bear .

As everyone was so touched by the little lamb story I thought I would show you how he is doing. He is feeding well but still quite wobbly for his age (mind you it could be because he has such daddy long legs!) and he has become very shy so hides behind mum when I go near (that’s appreciation for you). I also have to be careful as mum is fiercely possessive and tries to headbutt me so can’t put my head down to take a photo without running the risk of a trip to A and E , which really wouldn’t be wise right now!!
He has enormous lamb chop side burns ( can’t really see in the photo) so therefore he is called lamb chops , not because of the obvious reasons but purely due to his sideburns .

Yesterday I came back from work to find the scene we all dread... the old Dartmoor with a swollen headed lamb Half out. After a fight and a lot of choice language I managed to pull the enormous lamb off , it wasn’t breathing but there was a faint heart beat. I won’t be beaten so worked for half an hour to get it and keep it breathing. I then thought I shouldn’t have as it was breathing but limp and lifeless so I left it with mum assuming it was brain damaged and that it would pass quietly away. When I returned a couple of hours later to my surprise it was sat up . I milked the ewe (involving another fight and foul language) and tubed it into its stomach . Pen and strep injection for good measure and a quiet pen with mum . Next morning ... it’s up and feeding . A miracle giant lamb . Hard work pays off 👏🎉
