Crag Lough and the stretch of Hadrian’s Wall above it are some of the most rewarding miles on the national trail — big views, solid paths, and a surprising amount of history packed into a short section.

The wall here follows the Whin Sill, the same volcanic ridge that gives climbers those clean, solid lines above the water.

It’s a great spot for long-distance hikers, a fun detour for climbers, and one of the most atmospheric places to see the Roman frontier up close.

Turns out fitting 2,000+ miles worth of food into the trusty TOYOTA is a logistical challenge worthy of its own expedition. 🚣🍫🇬🇧

Wish Sam luck as he transports all the rations down to the marina. On the plus side if he does get lost, he will likely survive for months just by opening the boot. ❤️🫡 god speed Sam 🫡
