For experienced hillwalkers looking for a challenge, the Rum Cuillin Traverse is one of Scotland's classic ridge walks.

It crosses five summits, including two Corbetts and a Graham and it offers spectacular views across the Small Isles and out to Skye. Standing at 812 metres, Askival is the highest point on Rum and rewards those who reach the summit with unforgettable views in every direction

The traverse involves scrambling, covers remote terrain and has only two possible escape routes, so it's essential to plan carefully. Check the forecast, carry the appropriate equipment, ensure you have the skills and experience for the route, and always let someone know your plans before setting out.
