Skipper’s has a wide range of locally sourced Scottish Seafood, as well as a carefully selected range of products that we know work well with our seafood. Come and see us in store to see our full range of fresh Scottish Seafood, freshly made ready to eat meals, deli items, fruit and vegetables and so much more. Opening Times:

Shop History:

Why ‘Skipper’s’ you may ask. We named our local Fishmongers Skipper’s as a nod to the original Skipper at West Coast Sea Products: John King Senior. From there he went on to fish for Scallops and built West Coast Sea products to be what it is today: a fleet of five scallop fishing vessels with a factory that has over 100 local employees exporting Scottish Scallops across Europe. We first started to provide our local services in 2020 delivering fresh scallops to peoples’ doors. When demand grew, we invested in two mobile fishmonger vans that have been travelling around Dumfries and Galloway giving rural areas access to Scottish Seafood. Skipper’s Fishmongers is the next step in our local services, offering permanent shop with longer opening hours for the Kirkcudbright community and beyond. The local community was close to John King Senior’s heart, and we know he would have loved to see fresh local seafood, landed by our vessels, being sold in the heart of Kirkcudbright.

Before the shop opens and before the first customer walks through the door, the day starts at the fish counter.

Ice goes down first - cold, clean and freshly chipped, ready to keep everything at peak freshness.
Then the team begins laying out the morning’s catch: gleaming fillets, whole fish, scallops, langoustines, mussels, each one placed with care so you can see exactly what you’re buying.

Signs go on, trays are topped up, and the counter starts to take shape - bright, tidy and full of choice.
By the time we open, it’s not just a display… it’s a promise of quality.
