Two individuals reported our locked freezer being damaged/open yesterday afternoon .

Having reviewed our CCTV we are asking those same individuals to please come forward to resolve the incident which resulted in extra meals being taken without payment. We understand this could be a genuine oversight

The freezer is locked for a reason. The meals inside have been donated and prepared specifically to support people in our local community to afford low cost nutritional meals, made from food saved from landfill

Our Community Fridge is a community-led, not-for-profit resource. Food is donated by individuals, local businesses and organisations, and is made available free of charge to people to support food waste. It is not there for anyone to take food for resale, paid work, catering, or personal business purposes.

We are not looking to publicly shame anyone. We simply want to understand what has happened and give the people responsible an opportunity to come forward, explain the situation and resolve this with us directly or simply make payment for those meals.

We ask everyone to remember that every meal matters. What may seem like “just a few meals” makes such a difference to overheads at Foodworks for them to continue their great work

Please respect the purpose of the Community Fridge and the generosity of those who donate their time, money and food to keep it running.

If you were responsible, please come forward. We’re willing to listen and support where needed. ❤️
