Coffee Knoydart

Coffee Knoydart I am a small batch, artisan coffee roaster based in the remote community of Inverie Knoydart. So the coffee dream never really had the chance to become reality.

I started roasting coffee, a few years ago by hand on the stove for my own personal use. By using a simple frying pan and throwing in some green coffee beans i was soon hooked on roasting my own coffee and had the vision that I’d never had to buy shop coffee any more and maybe one day I would be able to sell my own beans. Although that never happened of course 🤔but the vision was still there 😬 and

so I continued to roast coffee in a pan. I even tried a pop corn maker (dont try it, its messy )
At that time I lived in Yorkshire, had a busy job, worked long hours etc etc. But then my husband and I decided to have a change of lifestyle. We made a trip to Knoydart on the West Highlands of Scotland in July 2019 and we fell in love with it. I returned home handed my notice in at work, we put our house up for sale and I returned to Knoydart a month later for a total lifestyle change and haven’t looked back. We now live in Doune on Knoydart which is about as remote as you can get, live off grid and wake up every morning to the most beautiful scenery we could have ever imagined and go to bed looking at the best sunsets we have ever seen in the world. We are very lucky. But anyway back to the coffee 😊
Coffee Knoydart is the next stage in my lifestyle change. I was still hand roasting on the stove but wanted something better. I didn’t want to buy a fully programmed Chinese machine as these just don't give you the ability to feel what the roast is doing. After months of research and talking to a lot of people we found a company based in Cornwall who built there own roasting machines by hand. Unfortunately because its hand built we had to wait nearly a year for it. But the Cormorant Roaster was worth waiting for and is an amazing machine. It gives me the ability to batch roast but lets me have all the control. Everything is done by sight, sound and smell. The only way coffee should be roasted. My vision for Coffee Knoydart is to be able to produce small batches of artisan coffee to sell the local community and visitors to knoydart and to be able to mail out what we produce. I only want to use compostable, biodegradable packaging wherever I can and will work hard to try and achieve this. Most of all I just want people to keep enjoying the coffee I roast. Thanks for visiting my page. Louise xx

It’s been a few weeks now since I’ve taken over Coffee Knoydart, Ive been building the new workshop for roasting coffee. Website is closed for the next few weeks, I will have a stall at Knoydart’s Christmas bazaar this Sunday and then I will be back up and running next year. Thanks to everyone who’s helped me out with the build and continued to buy coffee. .tearoom

A heartfelt thank you from Coffee Knoydart 🤎

Five years ago, Coffee Knoydart began as a small idea — a way to share our love of freshly roasted coffee from this beautiful corner of the world. Thanks to all of you, it’s grown into something truly special, and we’re so proud of what’s been created.

As we’re now moving away from Knoydart, we’ve recently passed Coffee Knoydart on to a new owner, ensuring it continues to thrive and bring great coffee to our wonderful customers near and far.

We’re delighted to share that another local resident, Will O’Neill, will be taking over the business. Will is every bit as passionate and dedicated to roasting delicious coffee as we have been, and we know Coffee Knoydart is in very good hands.

Over the next wee while, we’ll be in the process of swapping over the website, social media, and a few other bits, so please bear with us while we get everything updated. If you have any difficulty placing an order during this transition, just drop us a message and we’ll make sure you’re looked after.

We can’t thank you enough for all the support, encouragement, and enthusiasm you’ve shown us over the years. It’s been an absolute joy to share our coffee with you, and we hope you’ll continue to support Will as he carries things forward.

With love and gratitude,
Louise 🤎
