Beyond the markets and long lunches: a little culture in Provence 🖼️🤵🏻♂️
A little culture, a lot of beauty and a few places we think are well worth knowing about.

Porsche 917s under the chandeliers.
One of the more unexpected places we visited this summer was Mathieu Lustrerie in Gargas, just outside Apt. Régis Mathieu and his family restore and create extraordinary chandeliers here, with work found in some of the world's most prestigious buildings. Régis also happens to be a lifelong Porsche enthusiast and collector.
GLOBAL REUNION · Mathieu Lustrerie, Gargas
We still remember their brilliant Porsche 911 exhibition a few years ago, so we couldn't miss this one. Organised by Arthur Mathieu and GLOBAL REUNION, this summer's exhibition brought together ten Porsche 917s, alongside other historic racing Porsches, beneath the chandeliers of the family workshop.
The 917 was built to conquer Le Mans, winning the race outright in 1970 and 1971. Seeing so many of them together, without ropes or glass between you and the cars, was quite something.
PRÉSENCE · Campredon Art & Image
We heard about this exhibition through our friend Gideon Rubin, who we know from Primrose Hill Food Market, and we're very glad we made the trip to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
Campredon itself is worth discovering: a beautiful historic hôtel particulier tucked into the old town, now dedicated to contemporary art and photography.
26 artists. 26 interpretations of presence.
PRÉSENCE brings together photography, painting and contemporary art exploring what remains visible, invisible, remembered or simply felt.
We particularly loved seeing the work of our friend Gideon Rubin, with his quiet, pared-back portraits and figures, often painted without facial features.
