Saturday was one of those days where Hathren, rugby and family life all seemed to collide. 🤎
I was busy cooking for the honoured sponsors at Lampeter Town RFC — a two-course home-cooked meal of chicken in white wine sauce, followed by old-school cake and custard.
There were a few little hiccups behind the scenes… because apparently catering never goes completely to plan! 😂
But thankfully, everyone loved the food, and that’s always the bit that matters most to me.
Then there was our middle child!
His first game for the 1st team.
He’s only just come up from youth rugby and was playing number 15 — and, to make things interesting, that’s not even his usual position in a tough local derby against Aberaeron.
Very proud mum moment.
And then came the evening…
Lampeter Rugby Club had the most fantastic, homely atmosphere.
Dros Dro were playing and they were AMAZING.
Lots of singing.
Far too much dancing.
And a very welcome distraction from this blooming toothache I’ve been suffering with!
Work hard, play hard.
And somewhere amongst all the cooking, rugby, singing and dancing, I realised just how much is changing around here.
One niece has gone back to university.
Another is heading off next week.
And our middle one goes at the end of the month.
Three young people. Three new chapters.
It’s funny how life changes quietly around you.
One minute you’re feeding them all…
And the next you’re wondering where they’ve all gone.
So yes, it was a busy Saturday.
A busy kitchen.
A busy rugby pitch.
A brilliant evening.
And a house that’s about to become a little bit quieter.
I’m not quite sure I’m ready for that bit yet. 🤎
