Douglas Estate

June is the month of chicks! We use thermal imaging to keep an eye on, in this case, curlew chicks.
We love that these red listed waders return to Douglas each year. The last month has been disappointingly cold and wet, but hopefully these chicks will fledge and return in the future 🤞.
As always, please please stick to paths and keep dogs on short leads.

Meadow! We are delighted to open the Hirsel Walled Garden from Monday 1st June.
The wildflower meadow is a beautiful sea of yellow, with pinks and whites starting to come through.
It will be open Monday to Friday until it is cut in the late summer.
We hope you enjoy the peace, tranquility and happy buzzing of bees!

The beautiful weather ☀️ has really brought the gardens on and Dundock is looking particularly beautiful! The colours of the rhododendrons and the scent of the azaleas are heavenly. The work done by the team over the last two winters has really opened it up.
The photos don’t really do it justice, we hope you enjoy your walk!

The meadow in the Hirsel walled garden is really coming on now with some sunshine! It won’t be long until we’re ready to open.
The cowslips that were transplanted last year have taken well, and if you look closely the yellow rattle is starting to show.
Around the outside the daffodils have been replaced be a spectacular show of bluebells!
