I am proud to donate the proceeds from the sale of this lamb to Prostate Cancer UK and Rosemere Cancer Centre. If will be sold on Friday night at Stars In Your Eyes at North West Auctions
Back in November 2024, I went to the doctor for a simple Well Man check. It revealed that I had prostate cancer. Over the following months, my family and I faced the challenges of diagnosis and treatment together with the incredible support of my doctors, nurses, and two remarkable charities, Prostate Cancer UK and Rosemere Cancer Foundation, I was guided through each step with dignity, care, and knowledge. In June 2025, I was given the all-clear.
The reason I am making this donation today is simple: to raise awareness. A straightforward test, one that took just hours, gave me years of life that I might otherwise have lost, years with my wife, my children, and my family. I want others to know that awareness and early action truly save lives.
I must also take a moment to give thanks. To my wife Kim, who stood beside me at every turn. To my three children, for their support and strength. To the dedicated staff at Lancaster Medical Practice, Kendal Hospital, Preston Hospital, Barrow Hospital, and the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. And to my sons Chris and Phil, who carried the extra weight on the farm so I could step back and focus on recovery.
My message today is this: awareness saves lives. If by sharing my story I can encourage even one more man to book that simple test, then this small gesture will have been worth it.
Thank you.
Allan
