Artisan Smokehouse, specialising in small batch production, producing high quality smoked produce - Shop, Takeaway treats, Mail Order delivery service & Wholesale. Our products range from your traditional smoked salmon, smoked eel, smoked trout & haddock to smoked meat such as chicken, duck, sausages and lamb. We have a shop & restaurant located on Bowdens Farm in Hambridge, Somerset but also a t

hriving mail order & wholesale business. We have approximately 10,000 private mail order customers who live all across the UK - ordering by telephone 01458 250875 and online at www.brownandforrest.co.uk. Our wholesale business also supplies shops, hotels & restaurants in the UK including Fortnum & Mason, The Hand & Flowers, Brooks Club, The Gilbert Scott & The Hawksmoor Group. The smokery uses traditional wood fuelled brick kilns and relies not on temperature gages and timers but the skills & experience of our two mastersmokers! The flavour you get from smoking directly over a wood fire cannot in our opinion be replicated by modern stainless steal smokers.

Good Morning,
I sincerely hope you are sat reading this somewhere cool and comfortable?

Just a quick missive to say that the Café and Shop will again be OPEN ALL DAY and is a nice, relatively cool space, and that our chillers are full of delicious “no need to turn the oven on” food. This is a new Mrs P phrase that has been born this week as she strives desperately to keep the loons, whose schools are closed, fed, watered and from each other’s throats!!

All our products can be eaten as cold cuts and alongside big summer salads, so if you’re local enough, come and fill your boots and have a cold drink and a sandwich at the same time.

Good morning and welcome to the middle of the week/earth (judging by the current temperature!).

The amazing crew are here working away and doing a brilliant job in what can only be described as pretty unbearable conditions. Life stood by an open fired hot smoker is pretty interesting and sadly due to health and safety I’m not allowed to do it just in my pants! I say sadly, but I don’t think there is any doubt I would be left with no staff at all and probably a law suit if I did!

Anyway, we are here and we are busy getting all manner of deliciousness smoked ready for sending next week when the mercury will have returned to its normal level.

We are fully stocked, and our Picnic Box, Whole Hams, Smoked Chicken and Cheeses to name but a few are proving hugely popular in what is proving this far to be a barmy summer. They are all brilliant fridge fillers, gifts, and treats. With Wimbledon fortnight almost upon us these are all perfect to have close at hand.

Our Café and Shop are open and also brilliantly cool and we can put together orders for your collection whilst you have a light lunch and we would love to see you.

Good morning from a Somerset that I think it is reasonable to describe as a tad warm!?

We have had the loons schools closed from tomorrow for two days and apparently our phones will issue the red weather warning by the end of the day today!

On that basis we have had to make the decision to not dispatch any food at all this week as however many ice blocks we use, we simply cannot deliver fresh food safely in these extraordinary temperatures!

We are still open however and lots of folk are coming to the cool of the café and shop to get some respite and stock their fridges with lots of our goodies that are perfect for warm weather dining.

We also have our new PICNIC BOX available which with the start of Wimbledon next week is a perfect fridge filler for delicious feeding during whichever epic five setter you might get glued to?!

Good morning I hope this finds you well and if the forecasters are correct digging out the sun cream for a lovely day and apparently week ahead.

It has been a pretty hectic week at Pattisson Towers with cricket matches, birthdays and of course the trip to Take That for everyone accept Stan and I! Judging by the extraordinary and bizarre headgear and huge amount of glitter that was once on their faces I can only assume they had a brilliant time? The fact that due to their 2am return on Wednesday morning none of them have managed much more than the odd grunt and the nightly “I’m going to bed” about two hours earlier than usual since then is apparently a price worth paying? Stan and I managed not to burn the house down in their absence or indeed fall out to such an extent that Mrs P had to be contacted. There was a slight dispute over the statutory two minutes of tooth brushing needing to actually involve toothpaste, the necessity for full contact between the toothbrush and the teeth was another moment of dispute and finally that 20 seconds was NOT two minutes! Other than that we managed to look after each other without any major incidents at all.

At The Smokery we have had a brilliantly busy week with great piles of parcels leaving us on Thursday for delivery to Fathers all over the country as their gastronomic gifts to hopefully enjoy during their day of being spoilt and jolly well looked after today. With the amazing and jolly warm forecast for the week ahead I thought I would launch our Summer Picnic Box which was so popular last year. It is a box packed full of deliciousness that is perfect for Alfresco dinning and I hope you enjoy it and make the most of it. It contains: -

Good morning and welcome to Wednesday!

You have made it to the middle of the week and I sincerely hope you are feeling a little less jaded and tired than two thirds of the Pattisson household! Having spent last night in Cardiff, Mrs. P and the three oldest loons returned from grooving away to Take That, The script and Belinda Carlisle no less, even I had heard of her! They apparently returned at 2am (not that I heard them) and are going to struggle through the day today, I fear!

However, it is Wednesday and that means that you only have 24 hours left to order anything that you would like delivered to enjoy over the weekend, which they tell me is set fair again?

It is of course also Father’s Day on Sunday, and we have everything you need to ensure whichever Dad, Granddad, Stepdad or second dad you would like to give a hug to on Sunday gets a delicious food parcel which we deliver to his door. Good Morning,

Well done for making it through the early skirmishes of the week I hope entirely unscathed.

We are beginning to get extremely busy with the preparation of rather a large amount of delicious goodies which are needed for all the orders we have been receiving for Father’s Day gifts and treats. Having always been a rather hopeless son on the general birthday and gift front, the one day I normally always managed to remember was Father’s Day. The main reason for this was that my darling Dad adored kippers and once, 20 years ago, we became owners of the Smokery he was particularly fond of ours!

I think that’s why we are so suited to Father’s Day gifts as we have some of those slightly dad only products that the rest of the household tend not to love, like Kippers, Cods Roe and maybe even Black Pudding!

We will be taking orders up until Noon on Thursday and will have everything delivered by close of play on Friday with whatever messages of love and devotion you would like us to write for you.
