We checked out Barbeque Kings Largs 👑 at 130 Main St, Largs KA30 8JN, and it did NOT disappoint!

🍱 FOOD: We went for the Mixed Kebab (ÂŁ13.50) on Naan, featuring chicken, lamb, and doner meat, all seasoned very well. The chicken and lamb were tender, full of flavor, and cooked just right. The naan had a slight sweetness, freshly made in front of us in their oven, The house chilli sauce? Just the right amount of heat and hint of mint! đŸ”„

🏡 ATMOSPHERE: Small, busy, and packed with mouth-watering aromas that pull you in before you even step inside.

⭐ SERVICE: Even with deliveries and online orders flying in, the team handled it like pros. Fast, friendly, and efficient.

✅ OVERALL: 8/10- We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Barbeque King. The delicious kebabs, fresh ingredients, and warm atmosphere make it a must-visit spot in Largs!"

đŸ„™Kebab FactsđŸ„™

It’s history actually goes back a long way. The story of the kebab traces back to myriads of both Asian and African cuisines. The word ‘kebab’ itself actually means ‘to roast’ but can also be referred to as a meat patty mixed with spices.
They are thought to have originated in Turkey when soldiers used to grill chunks of freshly hunted animals skewered on swords over open field fires. This origin is backed up by a Turkish script of Kyssa-I Yusuf in 1377 and is now the oldest known source where kebab is stated as a food item.

Kebabs are most commonly eaten throughout the world with rice and salad but the most popular form in the UK is now served with different forms of bread.

Marination techniques are the most important part of creating the flavour of the kebab and they vary culture to culture. They mainly revolve around a concoction of lemon juice, olive oil, milk and yoghurt, onion juice, cinnamon, wild marjoram, tomato juice and spices.

What’s more, the way kebab became a staple of British life tells us something fundamental about our shared humanity. Through the simplicity of hot, grilled meat and bread, the presence of communities once contested in the UK has now become wonderfully unremarkable.

This week we tried out the Harbour Fish&Chip Shop , located at 32 High Street, Avoch IV9 8PT

— RESTAURANT —
The interior of HARBOUR FISH & CHIPS is dark and somewhat uninviting, with its red-and-black tiled design and low lighting. While the aesthetic may appeal to some, brighter lighting and a more modern decor would significantly enhance the atmosphere

— FOOD —
We ordered the Mixed Kebab (ÂŁ14.00) with pitta bread, which included chicken, lamb shish, and doner meat, accompanied by salad, coleslaw, and chips and chilli garlic sauce . Unfortunately, the dish fell short of expectations for several reasons:

*The temperature was inconsistent, with lukewarm food likely affected by the chilled garlic sauce.
*The doner meat had an overly wet texture, as if it had been sitting in a bain-marie for an extended period.

The chicken and the lamb , however, was the saving grace—perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful.

Additionally, the presentation of the dish in a partitioned container was misleading. At first glance, the sections made the portion appear larger than it was, but when combined, the serving was less substantial than expected for the price.

— SERVICE —
Service was disappointing. The server’s demeanor gave the impression that our presence was inconvenient rather than welcomed. A more attentive and customer-focused approach would have improved the experience significantly.

— OVERALL —
While the chicken and lamb in the Mixed Kebab stood out, the overall dining experience at HARBOUR FISH & CHIPS was underwhelming. Improvements in food consistency, service quality, and interior design are needed to elevate the restaurant’s appeal.

Overall, we would rate HARBOUR FISH & CHIPS . 5/10

Food Review Club , Rate My Takeaway, Wrap God and Kalani Ghost Hunter have all been here now it was our turn to visit, the hit on social media " Polski Kebab" located at 5 Rose Street , Motherwell, United Kingdom, ML11QQ.

— RESTAURANT —

Nestled in an industrial estate , Polski Kebab might be hard to spot without its vibrant signage and social media buzz. Built from a few repurposed porta cabins, it doesn’t scream luxury dining, but as the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover!

— FOOD —

We couldn’t resist trying their famed ###L Kebab (ÂŁ15.00)—a massive bread boat brimming with marinated chicken and lamb, fresh cabbage salad, pickles, and your choice of sauces. We went with Spicy Jalapeño and Garlic Sauce, though the Very Spicy Sambal Sauce is also an option for those who dare.

The meat was exceptional—flavorful, tender, and clearly marinated with care. The traditional toasted bread was a revelation: crisp on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. It’s a game-changer, and honestly, we’d pick it over naan bread any day. The portion size? Let’s just say it’s worth every penny—generous, satisfying, and downright indulgent.

— SERVICE —

The service was friendly and charming. While the staff’s English wasn’t fluent, it only added to the authentic, down-to-earth experience. They made us feel welcomed and ensured we enjoyed our meal.

— OVERALL —

Polski Kebab exceeded our expectations. With incredible food, unbeatable value, and its unique setup, this spot earns a well-deserved 9.5/10. It’s not just a kebab; it’s a cultural experience we’re eager to repeat.

This week we were in Perth and tried the locals go to , " Ozy's Grill " , located at 176 South Street Perth PH2 8NY

— RESTAURANT —

Ozys Grill boasts a welcoming ambiance with its spotless and brightly lit interior. The open kitchen and grill area allow diners to watch their meals being prepared fresh—a testament to their commitment to quality.

— FOOD —

We decided to try the Triple Mixed Kebab on Naan (ÂŁ17.95), a standout menu option that offers a choice of three meats. From a tempting selection (including Donner Kebab, Chicken Tikka, Lamb Shish, and more), we chose Donner Kebab, Chicken Tikka, and Lamb Shish, served with fresh salad and a duo of chilli and garlic sauces. The meats were perfectly cooked, with a delightful char that elevated the flavor profile. The naan was soft and freshly made, complementing the smoky richness of the meats. The sauces added the perfect balance of heat and zest.

— SERVICE —

Despite being midweek, Ozys Grill was bustling, a testament to its popularity among locals. While the wait was slightly longer, watching the food being prepared fresh reassured us that it was worth it. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about delivering a great experience.

— OVERALL —

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would rate Ozys Grill 8.5/10. The delicious kebabs, fresh ingredients, and warm atmosphere make it a must-visit spot in Perth. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

We had the pleasure of visiting Inverness this week and decided to try your recommendation, " BigSzef ," located at 5 Strothers Lane, Inverness, IV1 1LR.

— RESTAURANT —
Upon entering, we were greeted by an exceptionally clean and inviting interior. The delightful aroma of the food wafting through the air was enough to draw us in immediately.

— FOOD —
During our visit, we opted for the Large Donner Meat Box with rice (ÂŁ13.50). This dish was a generous serving that included a combination of Chicken Donner and Lamb Donner, accompanied by rice or chips, a fresh salad, red cabbage, and, of course, the essential chilli and garlic sauces. The meat was both juicy and tender, while the chilli sauce was notably on the hotter side, offering a moreish flavour that complemented the dish perfectly.

— SERVICE —
The service we received was commendable. The young gentleman who attended to us was very informative and helpful when we had questions about the menu items, which greatly assisted us in making our selection.

— OVERALL —
We would rate our experience at Big Szef a respectable 7.5/10. It was a delightful outing, and we look forward to returning in the future.

Our recent dining experience at lorenzo (If you know them tag them in this post) located at 71 High St, Nairn IV12 4BW. On our way back from Brodie Illuminated 2024 at Brodie Castle & Estate NTS it's not what we expected from the outside, the saying goes don't judge a book by its cover.

— RESTAURANT —
Upon entering Lorenzo, we were pleasantly surprised by the interior, which featured a blend of casual and quirky decor that added character to our experience. However, we felt that the exterior could benefit from some improvements to better reflect the charm found within.

— FOOD —
We ordered the Mixed Kebab Pita (ÂŁ14.50), which included a combination of chicken, donner, and shish. The meal was quite appealing; all the meat was tender and served piping hot, complemented by the customary chilli and garlic sauces. The donner was particularly noteworthy, cut thin with a delightful char on the edges. The presentation was commendable, with the meat wrapped in foil to keep it warm.

— SERVICE —
We found that the service could be improved. While the staff member was friendly, there was a sense that he was not fully engaged in providing an excellent dining experience.

— OVERALL —
Overall,While our experience at Lorenzo had its ups and downs, we left with a sense of satisfaction, particularly due to the delicious food. The mixed kebab pita was not only flavorful but also generously portioned, making it a great value for the price. we would rate our time at Lorenzo a 7/10.
