Sunday Throwback ✨️

One of the great characters of the British food scene - a young looking Ian with Wilfred in our Launceston store.

The Black Farmer is a wonderful business today focused on searching for, and bringing you the very best produce and products.

Some similarities shared by us in always wanting to give you the very best of West Country meat at the very best price. It's our mantra to never compromise on quality and always to give you the very best service we possibly can.

Today we've had the absolute pleasure of sending off the Cornwall Men's Senior Rugby team to Twickenham with breakfast. Local man Graham Dawe ( Head Coach ) was also present keeping strong links to Launceston.

Rugby is followed closely here at Warren's and we're proud sponsors of , our local team.

The Cornish Men play Lancashire at 17:00 in the Bill Beaumont Cup Final and the Cornish Women's team play Durham Women at 11:00 for the Gill Burns Division 2 Cup Final.

Wishing both teams the very best of luck!

Sunday Throwback ✨️

We love steak and so do you as we shift loads of them, from rib-eye to rump, flat iron to bavette😋

To give your steak the proper rest it needs, you’ll need a little bit of patience. Trust us when we say, its most definitely worth it. For equipment, you just need a clean surface for the steak to sit on and some foil.

A lot of cooks prefer to use a warm plate or serving platter. You can also use a cutting board, which is convenient if you plan on slicing the steak before serving. Board or plate is fine at home. An oven rack also makes a handy resting spot for your meat, since it helps you keep the crusty, seasoned exterior intact.

Here are some simple steps to follow:

Take the meat off of the heat burner, out of the oven, or off the grill or bbq once your done cooking.

Transfer your meat to the warm plate or cutting board.

Create a little tent with aluminum foil to retain a bit of the heat and place over the meat. Not too tight mind or it will continue cooking.

Let it sit for the appropriate amount of time. How long is up to you and how thick your steak is. 5 minutes is a good place to start. 🕑

Remove the foil and slice. Unless you want to cut on the plate.

Promptly serve and enjoy!

We're always here to offer advice on cooking times too, especially if you are unsure if your desired medium always comes out too rare! So get that conversation going next time you're in the shops. We love chatting to you all about what you intend to do with your purchases.

Both Launceston and Rock have basked for days glorious sunshine and we've served a record number of you with so much food. You really have been using that bbq well!

Sausages and Burgers are a great seller for us and we offer several different types of both item - to practically sell out of both and have to make more to meet your demands was amazing 👏

What is really nice, is to see you queuing and having confidence with your purchases, to meet new faces and to find out where you've travelled from and also, to continue serving our dedicated regulars with your weekly shop.

Yes it's been very busy, but we love it. You make us be better.

Sunday Throwback ✨️

A rare shot of our old shop with no customers in it, probably in the mid 80s.

This was a promotion shot highlighting the counters we were using at that time. Looking back, it's quite heavy and chunky looking but was still able to show off our fine display quite well. The sheer amount of brown and cream tile's is definitely of that ere too.

Keen eyes might spot Jay- Bee Video that was over the road at the time.

Our two stores in Launceston and Rock will not be open on this coming Spring Bank Holiday (25th) including our Carvery

As we plough straight into Summer, the shops are becoming noisy and colorful as more of you head in for classic mid-week favourites, roasting joints and of course, BBQ food. We've certainly noticed more customers in store and at our Carvery counter so, this was a rare opportunity to give the whole team some time off.

The temperature is set to rise and it looks like we're going to be blessed with some good sunshine for half-term - much needed after the recent cold snap!

We're open until 1pm on Saturday in both stores so get in before the que's start.
