Founded in 2009 as a wholesale business in Hay on Wye, we supplied quality wines to Pubs & Restaurants, our first shop opened in November 2009, we operate Retail, Wholesale, Events and Online busine

With over 75 years experience in the wine merchants trade, the Hay Wines team brings a wealth of knowledge, passion and expertise to its customers. With over 1,200 wines, whiskies, spirits, liqueurs, beers, ciders and perries, supplying wholesale solutions to restaurants, pubs, hotels and wine bars mainly around the counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire, Powys and The Cotswolds. Join us for A Taste of the Mediterranean, a special evening of beautifully matched food and wine at Feli’s Restaurant on Thursday 25th June at 7.00pm.

Hosted by Michele Longari and Holly Salt of Hay Wines, together with Chef Felice Tocchini, this exclusive dinner will take guests on a journey through Mediterranean flavours, with six courses, carefully selected wine pairings, wine commentary and a cookery demo.

From Assyrtiko with smoked melitzana mousse, to Greco di Tufo with lobster raviolo, through to Banyuls with Gorgonzola dolce, roasted fig and caramelised walnuts, this promises to be a warm, elegant and memorable evening.

THE SUN IS OFFICIALLY BACK - WHOHOO!!!
Right then…where are we heading with our tastebuds today then?…Italy and USA!!
First up for whites we have a very popular La Giustiniana Gavi di Gavi from Terra Antiche. Pale lemon yellow, floral on the nose yielding to classic lime notes on the palate, dry and lively with a lovely almond minerality on the finish. Fantastic with white fish or for easy drinking.

For reds you’re in for a treat! From sun-drenched California we have a stunning Syrah from Klinker Brick. Softer, rounded and velvetine with silky smooth tannins.
Bursting with Black Raspberry, cherry and vanilla on the nose and palate with that classic white pepper note on the finish. Matured in French oak and at a fantastic price too!

We’re All Southern Hemisphere Today!!
Ok folks the sun has disappeared for a while but there’s a promise of a return soon! So while it’s cooler weather, let’s embrace it with two more aromatic wines.

For whites we have a gorgeous New Zealand Pinot Gris from Kumeu Village. We took delivery yesterday and it’s nearly sold out! Typically aromatic on the nose yielding to peach on the palate. Full in the mouth yet only 12.9% abv hint of minerality enhancing the long, long finish. One of the few dry white wines that are fruity enough to to pair with a chilli dish such as sea bream with chilli jam.

For reds a truly lovely Argentinian Cabernet Sauvignon from excellent producers Pulenta. Juicy blackcurrant and plum on the nose joined by a hint of green pepper on the palate with slight to***co notes from the oaking. This is a beautifully balanced wine with enough tannicity to pair with beef.

Hi folks - Well what a fabulous time that was! Did you enjoy yourselves? Some really good questions too throughout the evening from all of you. Many thanks to Andrea Asciamprener for presenting a fascinating journey into the world of natural, minimum intervention, organic wines. Wonderfully diverse selection with the Karri Vineyards Terroirs Project Semillon from Australia and Epicuria Cabernet Sauvignon from Morocco getting top votes of the evening. The Weekend and the Sun’s Still Shining - We Could Get Used To This!
Well hello there lovely people! It’s Saturday and you know what that means - tasting day! So we’re heading to France with our tastebuds with two gorgeous wines.
First up for whites we have a lovely dry aromatic muscadet from the Loire valley. Having the advantage of resting on the lees for greater structure and complexity on the palate - great minerality!

For reds a recent Jeremy find from his French tasting trip. A sumptuous Costières de Nîmes. He knows his stuff - it’s just been recommended in the top 100 in Wine Merchant magazine! Predominately Syrah Grenache blend from Southern Rhône this is bursting with black hedgerow fruits on the nose and palate with a hint of liquorice and of course spice toward the finish. Fantastic for beef!
