Today’s job… sorting through 63 crates of food salvaged from Leeds Fest! 😅♻️

A LOT of Pot Noodles, crisps and breakfast bars later, we’re finally got there!

A HUGE thank you to and her crew of salvagers who slogged through the post-festival trenches to make this happen 🙌❤️ Loads of perfectly good food saved from going to waste and ready to be put to good use!

We’re launching Pay It Forward at Yum Pantry ❤️

Sometimes something unexpected happens and even finding £6 for a pantry shop can be difficult. That’s where Pay It Forward can step in and cover a one-off Yum shop for someone in our community.

There are three ways you can help keep Pay It Forward going:

❤️ Donate any points you don’t use from your own Yum shop
❤️ Pop into Yum and make a cash donation
❤️ Donate £1, £2, £4 or a full £6 shop online

You can make a one-off online donation or set up a monthly donation if you’d like to give regularly.

A little update for all our YUM members 💚

From 1st August, the cost of a pantry shop will be £6. We’ve kept our price the same since opening in 2023, so this isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly. Please help us spread the word to anyone who shops with us.

🍳 Looking for something to do with the kids this summer?

Our Pals over at Inn Churches and FoodSavers Network are running FREE Kids' Cook + Learn workshops throughout the summer holidays for children aged 7–15 (with some sessions for ages 5–7) at the Cookery School in Leeds Kirkgate Market 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

It's a great opportunity for children to learn new cooking skills, have fun and enjoy making some delicious food 🥕🍅

🚗 VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED! 🚗

On Monday alone, the Yum Community Pantry and Fridge fed 65 households in our community.

This incredible impact is only possible because of our amazing volunteer drivers who pick up and deliver surplus food. However, the reality is that over the past year, demand for affordable and emergency food has doubled.

We are stretched to our limits and desperately need more pairs of hands (and wheels!) to keep up.

🕒 Can you spare some time?
We are looking for reliable volunteers for surplus food collections from local supermarkets on:

Thursday evenings

Sunday evenings

If you have a car, a valid driving license, and a desire to stop good food from going to waste while helping your neighbors, we want to hear from you! Even volunteering just one evening a month makes a massive difference.
