Champagne from Romain & Thomas Henin’s uncompromising La Bulle Libre project - new in the shop.
Undoubtedly the highest tier of heatwave refreshment, we just added a couple of fascinating, completely sans soufre Champagnes to our online shop selection.
Grower-led, from start to finish, they are wines that reflects a sense of place over a generic ‘house style’. It’s Champagne of terroir for sure, each expressing two specific parts of the Marne Valley, in Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ respectively.
Both from the 2022 vintage, Meunier tu Dors is a blanc de noir of 100% Pinot Meunier, longer in the barrel, shorter sur lattes in the bottle. Gamin du Terroir is the inverse; Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay with a shorter barrel ageing of one year, then a couple of years on lees in the bottle.
Following tirage, the wine is re-fermented a la Champagne method by adding reserved grape must from the same vintage and, of course, there is zero doseage. To achieve this level of precision and finesse by using this completely natural method is something to be applauded.
Absolutely excellent work - thanks to our friendly neighbourhood Champagne and Burgundy specialist Wright's Wines for the hook-up.
Both are available to order now from the front page of the website.
