Stylists and service business owners: your £100 service might earn you LESS per hour than your £60 service.

Here’s the maths:

£100 service − £25 products = £75 left over 3 hours → £25 per hour.

£60 service − £10 products = £50 left over 1 hour → £50 per hour.

The lower-priced service leaves twice as much per hour before other business expenses.

Your highest-priced service isn't automatically your best-paid hour.

Try this with your 3 most-booked services. What do you charge, what are your direct costs, and how long does each take?

Save this and follow DataToProfits for simple numbers that help you make better business decisions.

I had a conversation with a stylist who is always fully booked, but she couldn’t understand where the money was going.

And honestly, I’ve heard this from so many stylists.

Being fully booked and being profitable are two different things.

If you’re busy all week but still have little to show for it, start with your 3 most-booked services and ask:

What do I charge?
What does it cost me?
How long does it take?
What’s actually left?

A full calendar shows demand. It doesn’t automatically show profit.

Your booking app can show you what was booked. I’ll show you how to work out what actually made you money.

6 reasons you could be losing money as a stylist — even when you’re getting clients.

It could be:
1. The services you offer
2. The prices you charge
3. How long each service takes
4. Your costs
5. Your no-shows
6. Not knowing which services actually make you money

Being busy doesn’t automatically mean being profitable.

You might not need more clients. You might just need to understand your numbers.

Follow for simple numbers that help you make better business decisions.

Revenue looks good on paper. But profit is what actually stays with you.

Before you celebrate a busy week or a big sales number, ask: after products, fees, overheads and your time — what did I actually keep?

That number tells the real story of your business.

Save this for your next money check-in. 💜

Revenue is not profit.

Money can come into your business and still not be yours to keep.

Products take their share.
The chair needs paying.
Booking fees come out.
The business has bills of its own.

Revenue is the money that walks through the door.
Profit is what stays when the bills have left.

Because a busy business isn’t always a profitable one.

Save this — and next time you look at your sales, ask yourself: how much did I actually keep?

If I were running your ads and you were a braider, I’d start with the content you already have on your phone.

This started as ONE client photo.
I used AI to turn it into a creative beauty ad, without changing the actual hairstyle the braider created.

You don’t always need another photoshoot or complicated editing to create something that stops the scroll.

Comment “BRAIDS” and I’ll send you the exact prompt I used.

Woke up this morning feeling this way.

Facebook doesn’t need your permission to end your business. One angry customer and a report button is all it takes.

My wig vendor had a large customer base in Canada steady sales from her page on Facebook Marketplace. One customer claimed her wig had a problem. The disagreement blew up, the customer mobilised people to report her page, and Facebook closed it. Every transaction, every number, every email, gone. She had to start over from zero.

So I built her a system that pulls her customers off every platform and into one place she owns. Name, number, order history, hers, permanently.

Do your customers exist anywhere outside that one platform? Tell me below.

Start putting systems in place you actually own.

Commission or chair rental? The better question is: do your numbers support the fixed cost?

In this example, 10 clients at £65 brings in £650.

On 50% commission, that leaves £325.
With £200 chair rent and £8 product cost per client, that leaves £370.

Chair rental looks £45 better — but the £200 rent is still due in a quiet week.

That’s why beginners need to know their break-even number before choosing a setup.

Save this and run the numbers for your own business.

Commission or chair rental? Don’t choose based only on which one looks like it pays more.

In this example, 10 clients at £65 brings in £650.

On 50% commission: £325 to you.
On £200 chair rental with £8 product cost per client: £370 after those costs.

Chair rental looks £45 better — but the number beginners often forget is the break-even point.

With £57 left per client before rent, you need roughly 4 clients just to cover a £200 weekly chair rent in this simplified example.

The better question is: do you consistently have enough clients to comfortably cover your fixed costs?

Save this before choosing your next salon setup.
