A Staffordshire business leader has been elected to a national industry organisation on workplace water safety.

One of our regular but vital duties at SAS Water Ltd, is checking temperatures and taking water samples for testing.
This is a vital part of keeping people safe from the growth of in workplace water.
Legionella bacteria occur naturally in water, for example in stagnant pools, but potential risks occur in the built environment when people inhale airborne water droplets from contaminated water systems.
Our work takes our water engineers across the UK. Here is Lee working at picturesque Langdale House in the Lake District following a scenic drive through the spectacular Yorkshire Dales.

Is your business checking temperatures and sampling for legionella?

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced plumber (minimum of 2 years’ experience) with some knowledge of Legionella and the applicable regulations to join our small friendly team.

You will be working nationwide, ensuring water safety in the workplace across all industries including manufacturing, construction, hotel & leisure, holiday park and spa sectors.

Criteria
Level 2/3 Plumbing qualification
Full Uk Drivers Licence
Experience/knowledge of Legionella control (ACoP L8 HSG. 274, parts 1, 2 & 3 HSG 282) (training can be provided)
Must be able to pass a DBS check
Proficient in the use of IT systems such as Microsoft

Salary of between £28,000K - £30,000K dependent on experience

Learning while on the job is crucial to growing our future water engineers.
Here we have Harry gaining knowledge from Leighton, an experienced plumber and water hygiene technician.
Leighton is a very welcome recent addition to our team at SAS Water Ltd.
The photo on the left shows Leighton giving Harry practical training in how to carry-out a TMV service. Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) are essential components in water systems that blend hot and cold water to ensure a safe and consistent temperature at the outlet.
Our second photo shows SAS Water engineers inspecting a redundant cold water storage tank.
Our checks revealed the tank had been decommissioned in the most basic way, There were dead legs and the tank was full of stagnant water, both red flags for possible legionella growth.
Work is necessary and SAS Water has provided a full report to the site owner.
