Before the Covid-19 lockdown, Perfectly Edible UK provided tasty hot food and a selection of hot and cold drinks, all cooked and served by our group of wonderful volunteers. We also ran regular markets and operated the Perfectly Edible Community
Shop on a daily basis. Since lockdown, we have been unable to run cafes and serve hot foods or run the shop daily or markets as we used to. Whilst Leicester is still in on-going lockdown, we maintain collections and, as of 29/10/20, have started holding our markets every Saturday & Sunday.Perfectly Edible UK rescues good quality food that food retailers would discard as surplus or waste. We are on an environmental mission to tackle the massive issue of food waste and the fact that there is astounding food poverty, particularly in the UK, when all this 'perfectly edible' food is simply thrown away. Perfectly Edible UK feels this is an unfair and unjust situation. One of the solutions is to 'rescue' this produce and make it available to you.Our project is run ENTIRELY on donations and the hard work of the volunteers; so, whether you pop-to-the-shop, visit our markets and 'The Chilled Cow', or simply donate money, EVERY PENNY goes back into the project to keep it going.
