🔧 Protect Your Investment: Quick End-of-Day Maintenance for the Clipex Sheep Handler! 🐑
Leaving your automated livestock equipment under high pressure when not in use can significantly shorten the life of your pneumatic rams, seals, and hoses. Over time, moisture from your air compressor builds up inside the system, which can cause internal rust, sluggish gate operation, or burst air lines [02:31].
In our latest quick video, Alan walks through the essential, end-of-day pack-up routine to keep your handler running flawlessly season after season [00:01].
Key steps to remember before packing away:
1️⃣ Secure the Deck: Use the toggle lever under the machine to lift the deck and always pop the orange safety bar in place before getting underneath [00:01].
2️⃣ Isolate & Depressurise: Take the air off and depressurise the system before working on components [00:18].
3️⃣ Drain and Inspect the Filter Bowl: Pull the release catch down, twist 45 degrees, and lower the water bowl through the access hole [00:46], [01:27]. Check for water accumulation, rust flakes, or dry crud [00:55], [01:04].
4️⃣ Check the Lubricator: Ensure your oil reservoir has plenty of oil to keep the valves running smoothly [01:46].
5️⃣ Bleed Residual Pressure: Once the machine is lowered back down, work the manual exhaust lever underneath to bleed all trapped air out of the pipes and rams completely [02:06], [02:20].
Taking just two minutes at the end of the day avoids wear, tear, and unexpected downtime when you next need to process your flock [02:31]!
