A little look at how Squisito has changed over time…

It’s easy to forget where you started when you’re always looking ahead. With time comes experience, confidence and, hopefully, improvement.

Our restaurant may look very different now, but our growth has never just been about making the space more beautiful.

We are constantly looking for ways to be better in everything we do — from the food we cook and the ingredients we use, to the service we give, the atmosphere we create and the way we look after our team and guests.

We’ll never stop learning, changing and striving to make Squisito the very best it can be.

Still evolving. Still improving. Still very proudly us.

30/06/2026

A 10% VAT rate for hospitality isn’t about giving restaurants a tax break. It’s about investing in one of Britain’s biggest employers.

Across Europe, many countries recognise hospitality as a growth industry and tax it accordingly. Lower VAT rates in countries such as Spain, France and Italy have helped support thriving restaurants, cafés and pubs, protecting jobs, encouraging investment and strengthening local economies.

Hospitality isn’t just somewhere to eat or drink. It’s one of the largest employers of young people, offering first jobs, apprenticeships and careers. Every successful restaurant supports a huge network of local suppliers, farmers, breweries, vineyards, laundry companies, cleaners, tradespeople, delivery drivers and countless other small businesses.

When hospitality grows, entire communities grow with it.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that reducing VAT simply means cheaper prices for customers. The reality is far more complex.

Over the last few years, hospitality businesses have faced soaring food costs, energy bills, wages, National Insurance contributions and business rates. A VAT reduction would allow businesses to rebuild sustainable margins, invest in their staff, improve facilities, maintain buildings, create jobs and continue serving their communities. It isn’t about increasing profits—it’s about making businesses resilient enough to survive.

The alternative is one we’re already seeing across the country: closures.

And a business that closes doesn’t collect VAT.
It doesn’t pay corporation tax.
It doesn’t employ local people.
It doesn’t buy from local suppliers.
It contributes nothing to the high street.

A thriving hospitality sector generates far more for the economy than a struggling one.

Sometimes collecting a smaller percentage from thousands of successful businesses is better than collecting 20% from businesses that no longer exist.

It’s time to recognise hospitality as the economic engine it really is.

English W**e Week

Introducing Domaine of the Rose & Bear

Founded by James Snowden and Sarah Stott, Domaine of the Rose & Bear is a boutique English w**e producer dedicated to showcasing the unique character of exceptional vineyard sites across the South East. Working closely with growers in Sussex, Kent and beyond, they focus on small-batch w**es that reflect both the landscape and the vintage, combining thoughtful vineyard management with a minimal-intervention approach in the w**ery.

The FENNICA collection draws inspiration from James’ Finnish heritage, with each w**e named after figures and symbols from the forests, wildlife and folklore of the north. Forest King and White Wing are expressive examples of modern English w**emaking, balancing freshness, purity and a strong sense of place.

Alongside these is D.P. Rowe Meunier, a separate label created to celebrate the potential of Pinot Meunier as a standalone variety. Sourced from carefully selected English vineyards, it offers a distinctive expression of one of England’s most exciting grapes and reflects the same commitment to craftsmanship and character that defines Domaine of the Rose & Bear.

For English W**e Week, we’re delighted to showcase these w**es as part of the continuing story of England’s world-class w**e industry.
