Market Report - Friday 4th September
Store Cattle
81 store cattle through the ring with a strong trade once again for all types. Topping the trade at £2280 was local farmers ER Terry & Sons with their British Blue heifer which went onto sell to loyal supporter Luke Ashford. Steers sold just as well and topped at £2200 for a trio of continentals from R & JJ Sunter. Away from the continentals Native sired cattle sold to a strong trade with steers selling to a high of £2080 for an Angus from RJ & SJ Kirby and heifers topping at £2070 for AJ & S Stoney.

Dairy Cattle
Once again, the monthly sale of dairy cattle was greatly supported with a super show of honest cattle on offer. Topping the trade at a £3650 was returning vendors Broadley farms who turned out a super Holstien heifer 17 days fresh and giving a solid 34 litres she went on to sell to regular buyers K Wilkinson & Sons. Away from the top prices other highlights saw the quality run of heifers from renowned vendors G Thompson & Sons sell to a high of £3350 twice. In calf heifers met strong demand with a run of heifers due for the autumn to the angus bull sell to a high of £2650 for NJ & J Ward.

Store Lambs
1420 Store lambs forward and trade was fantastic from start to finish and great to see more new buyers around the ring keen to buy some good quality lambs. They wouldn’t be disappointed as we did have some smart good skinned lambs forward, great buzz round the ring and more lambs like them could be sold all day long so give us a try at Leyburn.
Topping the trade today were some lovely Beltex x lambs from Bilborough Farming they reached £161 & £159 these were closely followed by LD Laws at £150 and at the same price were a pen from J Duffus who brought a very smart consignment. Travelled lambs from Whitby achieved £146.50 for ¾ texels from K Brown and these were followed with a smart ring full from J Fawcett & sons at £140 and this was matched by JK & DE Garbutt.
Suffolks from D Stelling topped at £131.50 with another pen at £128 .PE & TJ Wilson had two big strong pens at £129 & £124 with Whitby lambs from HH Smith at £128
More Mule lambs forward and buyers looking for more, P Goodall topped with some ewe lambs at £137 but followed by L Bainbridge at £127, £114.50 and J Fawcett at £122.50
