Good evening pumpkin pickers - we’d like to take a moment or two to share a rather special story with you. So, make yourself a cuppa, pull up a chair, and let us take you on a journey to the very edge of the farm – far away from the pumpkin patch.
It’s a place where rolling mists curl around the fields, where muck heaps rise like enchanted hills, and where odd little creatures scurry around as if guarding enormously important secrets. And it’s there, in that curious corner, that something truly unusual happened this summer…….
We noticed a magical and mysterious single green shoot had appeared — bold, bright, and determined - pushing its way through the warm muck heap as if it had somewhere important to be. Nobody planted it. Nobody expected it. And absolutely no one could agree on how it got there.
Some say it was a careless crow dropping a pumpkin seed mid flight. Others insist it was our stables squirrel - the bushy tailed bandit who buries snacks all over the farm and forgets where he put every single one of them.
But the farm elders speak of older stories, whispered in hushed tones by flickering lantern light on warm summer evenings - tales of a mischievous, ghostly pumpkin spirit who roams the farm each year, searching for one special spot to bless with a single enchanted seed.
Whatever the truth, however it found its way there – this very special seed sprouted. And it didn’t just sprout – it flourished. Week by week, the plant has unfurled across its warm muck heap throne, growing bolder, broader, and more magnificent with every sunrise.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls… this isn’t your everyday pumpkin plant. This is 'Patchless Pete' - the self made, self sown, muck heap monarch.
And if this wasn’t enough - then came 'Pip', the first little pumpkin to grace Pete’s mighty vine. Pip appeared green, glossy, and full of promise, peeking out from behind a magical yellow flower. A pumpkin with presence. A pumpkin who clearly knows he was born for fame.
And so, the legend began.
From now until October, Pete will continue his dramatic reign upon the muck heap, while Pip grows into a full blown pumpkin celebrity. And when the pumpkin patch opens, Pip will make his grand arrival - making his way from the muck heap all the way to the spooky barn - ready for meet and greets, photos, and fans.
