A tale of two extremes for Team England's Peak Lead Kevin Davey!
Just a few weeks ago, Kevin, his nephew James and the team were battling freezing rain, strong winds and near-zero visibility in the Lake District. Safety came first and with conditions deteriorating on Helvellyn, the decision was made to turn back and save the mountain for another day.
Fast forward a few weeks and Kev was back to finish the job - but this time facing a completely different challenge.
With temperatures hitting 31°C, the waterproofs were swapped for sun cream, although that brought its own problems!
"31°C was a bit too hot. Covered myself in sun tan cream before I set off but it mixed with sweat and filled my eyes within about 15 minutes!"
From freezing rain and mountain mist to blazing sunshine and scorching temperatures, it's been a real reminder of just how unpredictable the hills can be.
But true to his word, Kev returned to tick off the peak that weather denied him on event weekend, continuing the incredible effort behind the 40 Peaks Challenge and to and raise the poster on behalf of our Peak Sponsor Xylem.
Kev’s determination shows whether it's battling storms or baking in the summer heat, the commitment to the cause remains the same.
