It might look like all we’ve been busy with recently is parties and farm hours, but rest assured it’s been busier than ever trying to keep getting enough water on the root crops, lifting carrots and onions and combining! 🌾🧅🥕

We are very much in full swing with irrigation and harvesting, and plenty more to go at - it’s hard work in the heat! 💦🚜

Well what a weekend we’ve had celebrating 100 years of the Chennells family farming at Eagle Hall plus 50 years since Gordon set up G H Chennells (Farms) Ltd and 24 years (25 next year) since Eagle Hall Estates Limited was created!

We couldn’t do it without the amazing team over the years and we were delighted that the original three, David, Tony and Philip who started working for Gordon were also able to join us!

On Wednesday evening we had the pleasure of hosting a group of Notts Young Farmers Clubs members for an Lowdham Young Farmers / Southwell Young Farmers / Papplewick YFC / Collingham YFC Interclub Meeting!

We hopped back on the trailer for a ride around and then a walk through the yard at Clay Farm - we’re getting the hang of this little tour route now! 🥕🧅🥔🌾

Finished off with a few drinks and some crisps from the potato lab down the road, a lovely social evening with a great bunch of Young Farmers! 🍻

Last week we welcomed the Agronomy Groups (all from Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire) for their Summer Update and Outing ☀️

We started off with some Agronomy, Fertiliser and Environmental Scheme Updates from Andrew Wells (featuring our innovative farm spec benches!) followed by a finger buffet lunch and then got out and about for a ride around the farm and then finally a walk around the yard in the sunshine! 🚜

It was a thoroughly informative and enjoyable day and a pleasure to meet so many passionate farmers and show them around our setup! Thank you all for coming along! 🥔🥕🧅🌾

Following on from the other days post, prep has been done and Picador parsnip seed has been planted. It takes 140 days from sowing to maturity. Top tip - parsnips are always better after a frost!
