Salt and Tar is about more than bringing great live music to Bootle. It’s also about creating opportunities.

This year, we were proud to work with Gals Who Gig and Scrapyard Studios CIC to provide hands-on work experience for 12 young people at the festival, while Scrapyard Studios also programmed the music in our VIP area, showcasing emerging talent throughout the weekend.

Participants gained real-world experience across stage management, sound engineering, lighting and front of house, including supporting headline performances. Opportunities like these give young people the chance to develop practical skills, build confidence and make valuable industry connections.

A huge thank you to Lumen Productions and Total Control Sound for helping make these experiences possible and for supporting the next generation of live events professionals!

As one participant put it: “Best week ever!”

We’re proud that Salt and Tar can help create opportunities for local people alongside delivering a festival that brings visitors, investment and culture to Bootle 🫶🫶
