Want to save money while eating out? |ad|

Well we absolutely do, because we are living our best lives, but who doesn’t want to spend less doing so? And no, there genuinely are no catches (we checked it all out so you don’t have to!)

We went to Ours. for a Sunday roast (yes we squeezed in desserts too!) and indulged in a veritable tapas feast at So Salsa, of course accompanied by cocktails both times (special shoutout to this lemon meringue DELIGHT). We didn’t have to say anything about using Shuffle, just paid with our Apple Pay when the bill came (you can use a regular card too)… and then got cashback in our Shuffle app. I’m not asking why they’re giving you money for eating and drinking out, that’s their business 😂 but I’m absolutely grateful!!

When you download the Shuffle App you can see the venues available in Liverpool (and Manchester/Edinburgh/Glasgow), some of which change month to month, but most stay. You link one of your bank cards in the app and that’s literally it. Pay as normal. Stress free and we enjoyed getting a mystery reward- swipe to watch a direct screen recording of my So Salsa one, where I hit 39% for a cool £58.50 cashback 🤑 I the. got a bonus for spending at So Salsa, which added onto my trip to Ours… I can see this getting addictive!!

I would, of course, recommend this, as it seems a no brainer to get money back for places you’re going to anyway, or maybe even to try new places for less! According to girlmath I earned myself just over £70 in two trips out… which will pay for my third! Yay 💸

New cocktails at Pixel Bar 🍹👾

You probably know by now that we love Pixel Bar as it combines many of our faves- killer cocktails, insane levels of competition, high energy music and the nicest staff, and the promise of a new cocktail menu makes us book in faster than lightening!! As always the cocktails look amazing, and taste divine: we love the thought that goes into them and that the mocktails are every bit as good as the cocktails. Some of them come with extras: think Pokémon cards, mini dinosaurs, glowsticks, candyfloss 🤤

We were delighted to be invited out to see a preview of Little Shop of Horrors at Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester, which is hosting LSOH until November 28th, when it moves over to Liverpool.

The show is sure to be amazing; brought to life by Tony and Olivier Award-nominated Carrie-Anne Ingrouille || Choreography || Direction with an incredible and talented cast, impressive sets and awesome Aubrey puppets! We are hoping to catch it at Everyman & Playhouse theatres when it is showing between December 3rd and January 9th, and loved finding out more from Carrie-Anne and Tony award winning producer Thomas Hopkins about the set and design, as well as more of the history of Hope Mill- did you know this 130 seat theatre was actually bought on gumtree!?

It’s back! Liverpool Cocktail Week runs from 9th-18th October and promises more stunning cocktails priced between £5 and £7, no better way to try some new places and flavours!

We had ourselves a beautiful little sneak peek at a few of the venues and it’s safe to say we are EXCITED about Liverpool Cocktail Week starting!!

We went to Gaucho Liverpool first, for their Peach & Mint Spritz, and we have to say, we think this is our favourite so far this year! Such a stunning venue too 😍

Next up was Hawksmoor Liverpool who have stuck with their Sour Cherry Negroni, one of my top picks from the last cocktail week- and another opulent setting to enjoy!

Finally we went to Bohemian Liverpool who are new to cocktail week but clearly not to the cocktail game- they’ve got two beauties on offer, and this Raspberry Spritz was a close second on my favourites list! Another beautiful venue, with the loveliest team behind it too.

This is the beauty of Liverpool Cocktail Week- you find new places and get to try gorgeous cocktails whilst doing so. We think the range of drinks this Autumn is the most varied yet, and we can’t wait to get back out there to try some more- which have you got your eye on? 👀

Popped into Mee Thai and Japanese for a girly catchup recently and was pleasantly surprised!

I just love a prawn summer roll, and the G*i Satay and ribs were also gorge (probably too much food but isn’t it wonderful to get a variety of small plates!?). I also got a very lovely pornstar and I think this other epic being was a lychee mocktail- it was exquisite!

Everything was really decently priced and tasty- I’d 100% go back!

Does 𝐈𝐤𝐤𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 live up to our amazing experience at The Grand by Ikkayees? In our opinion, yes.

Obviously the Grand had the more opulent setting, but in terms of taste, the sister restaurant on South Hunter Street (off Hardman Street) is absolutely holding its own- no wonder they’re up for awards like Restaurant of the Year and Best Liverpool Curry on the regular!

To start, we *love* a mango chutney, and this one was Ste’s all time favourite (😱🤩🤯), with the all important poppadom light and crunchy 👌🏻

For mains, I ordered the King Fish Mango Curry, which was honestly sublime- one of the nicest curries I’ve tried, with SO MUCH flavour… but even though I asked for as mild as possible this was still HOT and I may well have perished were it not for the incredible emergency mango lassi 🥵😂 Ste was going to get the Special Lamb Chilman Biryani but some menu items are site specific so we couldn’t get this here (what a great excuse to visit The Grand by Ikkayees again!), so he got the Butter Chicken which was still super tasty.
We also tried the Kerala Porotta and Appam as sides this time; our server Bhavana told us the Appam would go best with my King Fish Mango Curry and she was right, it was lovely! We really liked all the sides, and Kerala Porotta will be a new fixture of my curry order from now on I think!

Honestly the food and drinks were all wonderful, as was our service. We would definitely go again. The stop the clock game is a great bit of added fun too, and we were pretty close!

In all this hot weather it’s so important to fill your life with sweet treats 😉
We were thrilled to try Chunk Fudge, which is definitely the chunkiest fudge you’ve ever seen in your life- look at those mega slabs of goodness 🤤
After much deliberation, because they have so many delicious sounding flavours, we went for: Billionaires, Eton Mess, and Lemon Meringue. Not only are they all absolutely massive and very visually pleasing, they’re also very luxurious, rich and buttery, and will keep you content for quite some time. Chunk Fudge don’t skimp on size or fillings, and say these could last up to a month- but claim they’ve not heard of anyone who’s not scoffed them in a week 😅

West Derby’s new go-to spot for healthy but delicious food is Nutritious Hub.
