Gaynor Doyle Ceramics Artist formally known as Liverpool Cake Company now a ceramicist, getting back to my first love, clay.

Creating beautiful, imaginative and delicious cakes is always my aim. If you have an occasion you'd like a cake or cakes for, just contact me and I'd love to make your cake wishes come true. I use only butter and free range eggs and any flavours are achieved using additions of 'real' ingredients; not flavourings. More of f these sort of forms.
These ones are in porcelain. I do love its smooth hard finish.
I know I’ve done quite a few of these now but I still don’t feel quite finished with them so these won’t be the last I post. There are some stoneware ones in the kiln just now and I will make another porcelain set, always aiming for smoother and more fragile.

Another limpet, fresh out of the kiln.
I’d been away on and off for a couple of weeks so not been in the studio. I came back to a selection of pieces all bisque fired and ready to be glazed. They’re all done now and waiting for their fiery baptism. This limpet and a bowl are the first things out. There’ll be a minor flurry in the next week or so.

I’m revisiting the pebble pots trying out different clays in the hope of finding the right shades of grey.
The exterior is burnished rather than glazed to give a natural finish.
This grey isn’t bad but is paler than I hoped. The search continues.

I’m very focussed on these sort of forms just now.
These three are the second attempt and are certainly much smoother than the first trio but, although pre firing you couldn’t see it, after the second firing the seam has still made itself known.
There’s a third set, made with porcelain, currently in their second firing, I’ll see how those turn out and I’m just starting a fourth batch, this time using a slightly different method. The aim is for smooth, seamless forms, shell like but not. Watch this space.

A new limpet fresh out of the kiln.
Although, generally, I’ve been working on other things, these are something I can work on at home when I can’t get into the studio so I’ll keep making them when the urge arises.
