I spent the day in Dunblane this week and honestly, it completely changed my opinion of the place.
Most people heading that way seem to choose Stirling because itâs bigger and has more attractions, but for a relaxed day trip, especially if youâre visiting Scotland, Iâd genuinely recommend Dunblane as well. Itâs packed with character.
The highlight for me was visiting Dunblane Cathedral. Parts of it date back to the 1100s and standing inside it really makes you appreciate just how much history is packed into this small town. The architecture is stunning and the whole place has a peaceful atmosphere thatâs hard to describe until youâve seen it for yourself.
Of course, itâs also the hometown of Andy Murray, but what surprised me most was just how beautiful the town itself is. The colourful buildings, the High Street and the surrounding scenery give it a charm thatâs becoming harder and harder to find.
I also spent some time visiting a couple of the local butchers while filming a food review thatâll be coming soon.
One of them has been in the same family since the early 1900s, with generations of the family carrying on the business. The other was equally memorable, with the owner showing me around the shop and chatting about life in Dunblane.
What stood out most wasnât the food though. It was the people.
Everywhere I went there were friendly faces, people stopping for a chat and that proper old Scottish town atmosphere that feels increasingly rare these days. The kind of place where people still know each other and take pride in where they live.
Iâll definitely be back.
For anyone from Dunblane, what food spots have I missed? Let me know below, and keep an eye out for the full food review coming soon.
