Tartan Dragon

Tartan Dragon Day courses offered to show what smallholding is really all about.

We give you hands-on experience and answer your questions so you can start to become familiar with the realities of smallholding and feel confident about pursuing the smallholding dream. Over the last 12 years we have built and managed a successful smallholding (while remaining in full-time employment and raising two children). Our knowledge and experiences covers cattle, pigs, sheep and chickens

as well as how to deal with the paperwork. We also provide fencing and other practical services to smallholders as well as being on hand to provide advice.

It was a pleasure to transport the very handsome Dan across Carmarthenshire to his new home this morning. We have over 30 years' experience around horses of all shapes and sizes, cattle, sheep and pigs so, if we can help you with any equine or smallholder tasks, just give us a call!

Some birds at the feeder are bigger than others! This handsome c**k pheasant is a regular and welcome visitor.

It breaks my heart when I hear of close neighbours being closed down for TB...especially when we in the farming industry know that 'an inconclusive' doesn't necessarily mean a case of TB but the outcome is the same...shut down and retests every 60 days with no certainty of outcome for the farmer but a certain loss in financial terms. And while its more often the cows (often good breeding stock from generational breeding) that end up paying the ultimate price, many other species harbour the disease...from wild animals such as badgers and deer to domestic livestock like alpacas and lammas. That a vaccine has been 'in development' but not progressed for nearly 50 years is unforgivable and highly questionable but disease control needs to apply equally to all livestock owners and the consequences too.

A further 27 animals remain in isolation at family-owned farm
